(NLĐO) - Earth Hour is not only an annual event but also contributes to changing community awareness about energy conservation and environmental protection.
On the evening of March 22nd, at the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Cultural Center, the lights-off event in response to the Earth Hour 2025 campaign took place in a vibrant atmosphere, attracting a large number of people, young people, and organizations.
The program, organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation, aims to raise community awareness about energy saving and environmental protection.
The organizers and artists performed the lights-off ceremony in support of the Earth Hour 2025 campaign.
The Earth Hour campaign is an initiative of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), launched in 2007 and officially embraced by Vietnam since 2009.
This year, Earth Hour is being held with the message "Green Transition - Green Future," launched by WWF Vietnam and the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Beyond simply switching off lights for 60 minutes, this year's campaign calls for long-term commitments from individuals and businesses to reduce emissions, transition green, and move towards Net Zero (zero net emissions).
Numerous social activities and cultural performances took place within the framework of the event.
As part of the program, many meaningful activities took place, including art performances, interactions with environmental ambassadors, and campaigns promoting green living habits.
At exactly 8:30 PM, thousands of people joined in the lights-off ceremony, joining in the global campaign.
Earth Hour is not just an annual event, but also contributes to changing community awareness about energy conservation and environmental protection. Over more than 15 years, this campaign has expanded with many practical initiatives such as using renewable energy, reducing plastic waste, and promoting sustainable lifestyles.
Ms. Tran Thu Ha - Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union, President of the Vietnam Student Association of Ho Chi Minh City - presented flowers and a letter of thanks to the Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation.
Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation, a partner in the campaign, emphasized its commitment to continue supporting activities promoting the efficient and economical use of electricity, contributing to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and working towards a sustainable future.
The event has ended, but its impact continues to resonate, encouraging each individual to take practical action to protect the planet.
