Mr. Bai drove a 155 CV fishing boat, operating a purse seine near the shore, to anchor at Chau Than beach, Binh Chau commune after a night of fishing near the shore. At around 10 am, the boat caught fire fiercely, black smoke billowing dozens of meters high, nearby boats had to move away for fear of the fire spreading.

The people present and the crew used buckets, basins, and buckets to scoop water onto the ship to put out the fire. After about an hour, the fire was brought under control, causing no casualties, but half of the ship's hull was charred black. The engine, GPS, radio, and many fishermen were damaged. The damage was about 500 million VND. The cause of the fire was determined to be an electrical short circuit.

In recent days, Quang Ngai and many other provinces in the Central region have been experiencing severe heat. Provincial authorities have advised people to be on guard against fire and explosion.
