Telegram has just launched a new verification feature to help users identify genuine accounts and prevent scams on the platform.
Following numerous online scams, Telegram has officially launched a highly useful user protection feature. Now, users can easily identify genuine accounts thanks to a new verification system from reputable organizations.
Specifically, when chatting with someone on Telegram, users will see a small logo appear before their name if the account has been verified. To find out more details, simply click on the logo to immediately see whose account it is and which organization verified it.
This new feature is different from the blue checkmark that Telegram uses to verify celebrities or large organizations. Entities wishing to participate in verifying others must go through a rigorous review process by Telegram to ensure credibility.
In addition, the new update also includes several useful features such as:
- Send each other unique GIFs.
- Added more emojis that react to system messages.
- Searching for messages is easy with the new filters.
Telegram says this is the first update of 2025, although it was initially planned for release in late 2024 but was delayed due to Apple's review process.
With Telegram's new anti-phishing feature, users can feel more secure when messaging and transacting on the platform. This is seen as an important step in building a safe and trustworthy social media environment.
