In the days leading up to the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, the small house of Mr. Hoang Van Tang in Trung Tam village, Chien Thang commune, was bustling with visits, encouragement, and gifts from delegations from the province to the local level. Mr. Hoang Van Tang fought in the Quang Tri battlefield from 1972, then continued fighting in the Central Highlands battlefield and was exposed to chemical toxins. He returned to his hometown after being discharged from the army in poor health, and his family faced many economic difficulties. Currently, he lives with his eldest son, who is also affected by the chemical toxins from his father, resulting in poor health and hindering his work and daily life.
Mr. Tang was moved: "These gifts are not only meaningful in a material sense, helping my family celebrate Tet (Lunar New Year) fully, joyfully, and warmly, but they are also a source of spiritual encouragement, giving my family more strength to overcome difficulties and rise up in life."

It's not just Mr. Tang's family; throughout the province, thousands of policy beneficiaries, war veterans, and families in difficult circumstances have been visited and given gifts during Tet. Beyond material support, the more important aspect is the recognition, gratitude, and profound political responsibility demonstrated through concrete and practical actions.
Following the central government's directive, starting in November 2025, the Provincial People's Committee issued Plan No. 302 on organizing visits and gift-giving activities during the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026. The plan clearly defines the target groups, content, and forms of care; and assigns specific responsibilities to each agency, unit, and locality. In particular, provincial leaders and leaders of departments, agencies, and localities directly participated in delegations to visit, give gifts, and extend New Year greetings to policy beneficiary families, demonstrating concern and responsibility from the provincial level down to the grassroots.
In this program, those who have rendered meritorious services to the revolution and families receiving preferential treatment are identified as the main beneficiaries. Those eligible for Tet visits and gifts include: pre-revolution cadres, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces; wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, resistance fighters exposed to chemical toxins, relatives of martyrs, and those who participated in the revolution, resistance, and national defense and were imprisoned by the enemy and are currently receiving monthly social allowances. The process of reviewing, compiling lists, and organizing visits and gift-giving is ensured to be transparent, timely, and accurate. In addition to gifts from the President, these individuals also receive gifts from the province, each gift worth 600,000 VND in cash.
In addition, various levels of government, agencies, businesses, organizations, and individuals also participated in caring for policy beneficiary families and people with meritorious services during Tet (Lunar New Year), with many meaningful activities expressing deep gratitude.
Lieutenant Colonel Vu Thanh Tung, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Provincial Police, stated: "In recent years, along with successfully fulfilling the task of ensuring security and order, the Provincial Police force has always considered public relations and social welfare as an important and regular political task, contributing to strengthening the relationship between the police force and the people. During the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, the Provincial Police coordinated and implemented many practical activities to care for the lives of the people, especially targeting policy beneficiary families, poor households, and households with difficult circumstances. Notably, the Provincial Police coordinated with the Vingroup Charity Fund to organize the donation of 1,000 Tet gifts to policy beneficiary families and households with difficult circumstances in many areas of the province, contributing to supporting families to have a more joyful and warm Tet holiday."
Activities aimed at caring for people during Tet (Lunar New Year), with a focus on families of policy beneficiaries and those who have rendered meritorious services, not only contribute to ensuring everyone and every family can celebrate Tet warmly and joyfully, but also carry profound humanitarian significance, reflecting the moral principles of "remembering the source when drinking water," "repaying gratitude," and the motto "leaving no one behind." For families of policy beneficiaries, this is not only support to help them celebrate Tet more fully, but also a source of deep spiritual encouragement, affirming that their sacrifices and losses are always remembered and appreciated.
