Tet of Gratitude - Spring of Sharing

Amidst the vibrant colors of spring, Tet (Lunar New Year) is not only present in every home but also spreads through acts of kindness and compassion. From expressing gratitude to those who have dedicated and sacrificed for the nation to sharing with those in difficult circumstances, the traditional Tet becomes even more complete, warm, and filled with love.

SPRING OF GRATITUDE - FILLED WITH AFFECTION

Every spring, the tradition of "Drinking water, remembering the source" is strongly revived through practical actions throughout the province.

The provincial leadership delegation visited and extended New Year greetings to Heroic Vietnamese Mother Du Thi Thinh (My Phong ward).

Activities to express gratitude to those who have contributed to the revolution, families of policy beneficiaries, wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, and relatives of martyrs are organized thoughtfully, solemnly, and warmly by all levels and sectors.

From the end of December 2025, many programs to care for the Lunar New Year will be implemented simultaneously: Visiting, giving gifts, and supporting the lives of policy beneficiary families and people with meritorious services; expressing gratitude to officers and soldiers serving on the border and islands; encouraging forces on duty during the Lunar New Year to ensure security and national defense so that the people can enjoy a safe spring festival.

Following the directives of the Provincial People's Committee regarding serving the people during the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, localities and units are required to organize well the visits and New Year greetings to veteran revolutionary cadres, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, families of martyrs, families with meritorious services, intellectuals, influential figures among ethnic minorities, prominent religious leaders, as well as units of the armed forces and standing forces on duty during the Tet holiday.

From urban to rural areas, from densely populated residential areas to remote border regions, wherever there are families entitled to preferential policies, there is timely attention and care from the Party, the State, and local authorities.

This concern is not only of material significance, but also serves as a link between the past and the present, expressing appreciation and gratitude for the sacrifices made for the nation's independence and freedom.

In the festive atmosphere of celebrating the Party and the New Year, the youth of Dong Thap province continue the tradition of gratitude through concrete and practical actions. Tens of thousands of youth union members participated in cleaning and beautifying martyrs' cemeteries and memorial plaques throughout the province. The cemeteries were cleaned, and the graves were carefully tended, a silent expression of gratitude from the present generation to those who came before.

Many meaningful initiatives such as "Journey Home to Mother" and "Filial Children" have been maintained and expanded, bringing great joy and comfort to families who have contributed to the revolution.

Thus, these acts of gratitude not only contribute to ensuring social welfare, but also become a practical environment for educating the younger generation about patriotic traditions and fostering beautiful ideals for life.

At the grassroots level, the movement to care for Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the Armed Forces, former youth volunteers, and families entitled to preferential policies during Tet (Lunar New Year) is taking place enthusiastically.

Gifts and heartfelt greetings warmed the hearts of many families in the days leading up to Tet. For example, recently, a delegation from the province visited and extended Tet greetings to Heroic Vietnamese Mother Du Thi Thinh (My Phong ward).

In her small house, filled with the colors of spring, the mother emotionally shared: "Every time provincial and local leaders come to visit, I'm so happy, and the house becomes much more lively."

"I am truly grateful for the care and attention from all levels." For my mother, today's gifts are not only material support, but also a vivid testament to the principle of gratitude, to remembering the family's contributions to the country.

SPRING SPREADS LOVE

Alongside the activities of showing gratitude, a series of programs are being implemented to care for the people, youth, and those in difficult circumstances during Tet (Lunar New Year), contributing to ensuring that every family has a more fulfilling spring season.

Chợ Gạo commune distributes Tet gifts to residents.

These days, the small kitchen of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Sau (Cho Gao commune) is busier than usual.

On the kitchen shelves were bottles of cooking oil, soy sauce, eggs, cakes, jams, and other items—all received by her from the "Zero-Cost Market" organized by the local authorities in collaboration with religious organizations.

"After choosing everything, I couldn't carry them all, so I had to ask some young people for help. It was so much fun! Thanks to these gifts, my family will have a more comfortable Tet holiday this year," Mrs. Sau said with a gentle smile.

In My Phong ward, the "Spring of Love - Tet of Compassion" program distributed 700 gifts through the "Zero-Cost Tet Market" model to households in difficult circumstances.

The market space is neatly arranged, clean, and offers a wide variety of goods, allowing people to personally select their necessary items in a cheerful and warm atmosphere.

These special markets are not simply places for exchanging gifts, but also meeting places of compassion, connecting kind hearts, and spreading the spirit of solidarity and community responsibility.

In the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), the image of female officials and members of women's associations, along with law enforcement officers, gathering around a fire to wrap banh tet (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes) has become a heartwarming tradition.

Each rice cake was carefully wrapped, conveying the heartfelt sentiments of the home front to the officers and soldiers on the border and to families still facing hardship.

Images of soldiers and civilians preparing for Tet together contribute to strengthening solidarity and close ties in the border regions of the Fatherland.

The material value of each gift may not be great, but behind it lies the profound concern of the Party Committee, the government, the Fatherland Front , religious organizations, businesses, and philanthropists for those in need.

In schools, the spring atmosphere is also vibrant with the laughter of children. At Tan Hoa Thanh Primary School (Hung Thanh commune), the school organized a Tet playground with many activities such as: making spring flowers, decorating lucky money envelopes, and participating in folk games.

Ms. Duong Thi Cam Dung, the school principal, said: "Through these activities, the children not only have fun but also learn more about the beauty of traditional Tet culture."

SEND WARMTH TO THE HOMES

The joy of celebrating Tet is even more complete for many disadvantaged families when they receive support in building or repairing their "Houses of Compassion" right before the New Year.

In her new house, still smelling of fresh paint, Mrs. Le Thi Bieu (Hamlet 3, Cho Gao Commune) could not hide her emotions.

As a single woman living on the precarious income from selling lottery tickets, for many years she has had to live in a dilapidated house that leaks when it rains and lets in the sun.

Thanks to the efforts of the Women's Union of the commune, Agribank Cho Gao Branch provided 60 million VND to build a new house for her.

"Every time provincial and local leaders visit, I'm so happy, and my house becomes much livelier. I'm truly grateful for the care and attention from all levels."

After nearly a month of construction, the house received a new corrugated iron roof, a raised foundation, repaired doors, and a fresh coat of paint. "Having a new roof to protect us from the sun and rain right before Tet (Lunar New Year), I'm so happy. From now on, I can rest easy," Mrs. Bieu shared with tears in her eyes.

In Vinh Kim commune, the Women's Union recently handed over a "House of Compassion" to Ms. Le Thi Minh Thu, a female member in difficult circumstances, with a budget of 50 million VND donated by benefactors.

On the day she received the keys to her new house, she said emotionally, "From now on, my family no longer has to worry about leaks, and my children have a proper place to study. Having a spacious house this Tet holiday is a great source of happiness."

These new homes not only provide families with stable housing but also open up hope for a new beginning, giving them the motivation to strive for a better life.

From cities to rural areas, from border regions to individual residential neighborhoods, the "Tet of Gratitude - Spring of Sharing" activities are kindling warmth and love.

Therefore, spring arrives not only through the colors of flowers and festive meals, but also through acts of kindness, care, and sharing between people. This is the enduring value that makes for a complete spring – a spring of gratitude and the spread of human compassion.
