Queen Mother of Thailand Sirikit passes away

Thailand's Royal Household Bureau announced that Queen Mother Sirikit has passed away at the age of 93 at Chulalongkorn Hospital.

Xinhua News Agency reported on October 25 that in an official announcement, the Thai Royal Office said that Queen Mother Sirikit has been continuously monitored and treated by a team of doctors since September 7, 2019, due to a number of chronic diseases.

According to doctors, Queen Mother Sirikit suffered from a blood infection on October 17, 2025. Despite the doctors' efforts to treat her, her condition gradually worsened and she passed away at 9:21 p.m. on October 24 at Chulalongkorn Hospital, at the age of 93.

Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua has directed relevant agencies to prepare for the funeral of Queen Mother Sirikit, which will be held with the most solemn rituals according to Royal tradition.

The body of Queen Mother Sirikit lies in state at Dusit Maha Prasat Hall in the Grand Palace in Bangkok.

The King of Thailand has also issued a decree of mourning for one year for members of the Royal Family and Royal officials, starting from the time of Queen Mother Sirikit's death.
