On the afternoon of July 3rd, at the Thai Parliament building, King Maha Vajiralongkorn officially opened the 26th House of Representatives for a four-year term, paving the way for the Forward Party (MFP) to form a government following its unexpected victory in the general election held six weeks earlier.

Attending the opening ceremony of the new National Assembly were the Prime Minister and the interim cabinet, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, the heads of independent agencies, members of the House of Representatives, and senators.
In his opening address, King Maha Vajiralongkorn stated that members of Parliament must always be aware that they represent the people of the entire nation through the laws enacted, which the Government then applies to governing the country. The King also emphasized that parliamentarians need to work with conscience, intellect, competence, honesty, and integrity to serve the national interest, the interests of the people, and the prosperity of the country and its people.
