On June 12th, information from Quang Ninh Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital indicated that the hospital had successfully saved a pregnant woman and her unborn child from anaphylactic shock caused by an allergic reaction after eating stork eggs.
According to information from the hospital, the woman, 38 weeks pregnant, was admitted with shortness of breath, lethargy, and mild uterine contractions. After admission, the patient was diagnosed with grade 2 anaphylactic shock due to an allergy and acute fetal distress.
In response to this situation, Quang Ninh Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital activated a red alert, implemented intensive resuscitation measures, performed manual ventilation via endotracheal tube, and administered emergency intravenous fluids.
The pregnant woman was also immediately transferred to the emergency operating room for a cesarean section to save the lives of both mother and child.
After 7 days of treatment, both the mother and the baby have recovered well.

After a cesarean section, the baby boy was born weighing 2.5 kg but cried weakly, had weak reflexes, and suffered from neonatal respiratory distress syndrome. The baby was resuscitated, intubated, and transferred to the Neonatal Unit for monitoring and care. At the same time, the mother was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit for continued resuscitation and postpartum care.
Currently, both mother and baby are in stable condition. The baby has good reflexes, is breathing and feeding independently, digesting breast milk well, and has been discharged from the hospital with her mother.
According to the patient's family, they had previously caught stork eggs in the forest and prepared them for dinner for the whole family of six. About an hour later, three family members showed signs of an allergic reaction: the pregnant woman, her younger brother, and her younger sister. The pregnant woman's brother and sister developed a rash all over their bodies and had difficulty breathing, and were taken to Ha Long General Hospital and Bai Chay Hospital for emergency treatment.
The pregnant woman was transferred to the Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital for emergency treatment.
Doctors advise pregnant women to avoid eating unfamiliar foods or those suspected of causing allergies or poisoning, as this can affect the health and lives of both mother and child. During pregnancy, women should thoroughly research their own and their family's allergy history to proactively prevent risks when using food and medication.
If a pregnant woman experiences any unusual symptoms, she should go to the hospital immediately for examination, monitoring, and timely treatment.
