With the motto "all for the development of the country, the lives of the people," and a spirit of decisive action aimed at "not wasting a single day, not delaying a week, not missing an opportunity in a month, and not being passive for a whole year," as directed by the Prime Minister , the 249th Engineering Brigade deployed its forces and equipment from 5 a.m., urgently reinforcing the dock and installing the pontoon bridge.
Newspapers and radio and television in Phu Tho reflected the "lightning-fast" momentum of the engineering soldiers on the construction site of the pontoon bridge across the Lo River.

Acting on assigned orders, from the night of February 14th, officers and soldiers of Brigade 249 were present at the scene, coordinating with forces of Military Region 2 to survey the location for installing a pontoon bridge across the Lo River.


At 5:00 AM on February 15th, while darkness still enveloped the area, 160 officers and soldiers of Brigade 249, fully equipped, were ready to depart for their mission.

Also starting from dawn, at the Lo River bank in Doan Hung commune, the advance team, in coordination with military units, proceeded to reinforce the foundation so that a pontoon bridge could be installed, serving the people's safe travel needs.

Lieutenant General Le Quang Dao, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, and Major General Tran Van Bac, Commander of Military Region 2, were present at the scene to directly supervise and implement the installation of the pontoon bridge.

During an on-site inspection of the pontoon bridge installation area, Comrade Tran Duy Dong - Alternate Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Tho Province - requested relevant agencies and units to coordinate closely during the construction process, with high determination to complete the installation of the pontoon bridge by February 15th; while ensuring absolute safety for people and vehicles during operation.

Construction of the pontoon bridge across the Lo River (Doan Hung commune, Phu Tho province) is progressing rapidly, striving to achieve completion.
It will be completed on the 28th day of the Lunar New Year (February 15, 2026) to serve people's transportation needs after the old bridge's collapse.
Thanks to the urgency and close coordination of the officers and soldiers of Brigade 249, the pontoon bridge across the Lo River gradually took shape.
As of 3 PM on February 15th, the volume of earth and embankment excavation along the Lo River bank for the pontoon bridge installation reached approximately 1,800 m³ , while the volume on the opposite bank was 2,400 m³ . Brigade 249 mobilized 160 vehicles and 152 officers and soldiers. In addition, Division 316 reinforced the area with 100 officers and soldiers and mobilized 12 vehicles from the local population to assist in leveling, clearing, and transporting earth and stone at both ends of the embankment. |
