According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Ngoan, Deputy Director of the Long An Department of Transport, the iron bridge over Canal 28 on Provincial Road 831 (DT.831) in Vinh Hung district has been dismantled to make way for a concrete bridge.
The measure will take effect from 7:00 AM on September 6th, halting all vehicle and pedestrian traffic across this bridge.
The old, dilapidated iron bridge over Canal 28 will be dismantled and replaced with a new concrete bridge.
Accordingly, vehicles and pedestrians will follow the routes from Vinh Hung town → DT.831 → QL62 → DT.819 (the road alongside the old Canal 79) → Tan Hung town and vice versa.
Additionally, there are two other routes: route one from DT.831 to (Km 15+468) → turn right across Canal 28 Bridge (Vinh Binh commune) → Canal 504 Bridge → pier B of Canal 28 Bridge → Tan Hung town and vice versa.
The second route goes from Vinh Hung town → DT.831B → DT.820 → DT.819 → Tan Hung town and vice versa.
To ensure traffic safety, the Department of Transport requires the construction unit to install sufficient traffic signs, directional signs for both road and waterway routes, temporary bridge load limit signs, and barriers. Personnel should be stationed at both ends of the bridge and along Canal 28 to guide vehicles and people passing through.
According to Mr. Ngoan, the iron bridge over Canal 28 has deteriorated and no longer ensures traffic safety, so a new concrete bridge is being built to serve the people of the two border districts of Tan Hung and Vinh Hung in Long An province.
Construction of the concrete bridge began on June 20th and is scheduled for completion and commissioning in December 2025, with a total cost exceeding 45 billion VND. This is one of the six remaining iron bridges on the DT.831 route in Vinh Hung district that will be converted into concrete bridges.
