Anxious about being orphaned

With their mother seriously ill and not knowing who to turn to, two brothers: Nguyen Gia Huy and Nguyen Hai Dang (students of Hai Hoa Primary and Secondary School, Hai Lang District) traveled in the middle of the night to find their teacher's house to seek help. These two children were always worried that they would become orphans.

Anxious about being orphaned

Listening to the teacher tell the story of her two children, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thao (born in 1991), residing in Hoi Dien village, Hai Phong commune, could not hold back her tears. As a mother, she blamed herself for making her children worry and suffer from an early age. Before, when her family's happiness was broken, Ms. Thao always told herself that she had to try her best to make up for her children. After much thought, she decided to return home to her parents.

Seeing that she could not rely on farming to take care of her children, Ms. Thao struggled in every way. For a while, she had to go to the South to work as a factory worker. After that, circumstances forced Ms. Thao to make a big decision in her life, which was to ask her parents to borrow money for her to go to Japan to work. While abroad, she worked hard with the determination to pay off her family's loan and send money back to take care of her children's education. In difficult conditions, the day her father suddenly passed away, she could not return home to burn a stick of incense.

After about 5 months in Japan, Ms. Thao's health deteriorated significantly. Seeing that she could not meet the requirements of the job, the company's leaders sent her back to Vietnam for examination and treatment. Initially, the doctors concluded that she only had a goiter and prescribed medication. However, after 1 month of treatment, her condition did not improve and even got worse.

Ms. Thao often had difficulty breathing, felt dizzy and tired. She was taken to Hue Central Hospital and doctors diagnosed her with a lung tumor and many other diseases. The lung tumor needed to be treated first. The heartbreaking thing was that despite having undergone surgery, the malignant tumor in Ms. Thao's body continued to grow. As a result, she had to undergo painful and very expensive radiation therapy.

Since learning that she was seriously ill, Ms. Thao has been devastated. She does not know what the coming days will be like for her family. Because the amount of money she borrowed to work abroad is quite large, and she has not yet paid back much.

Meanwhile, the cost of travel, medicine, medical treatment... is increasing day by day. If she did not think about her old and weak mother and two young children, perhaps Ms. Thao would no longer want to live.

“Now, my family is really at a dead end. Every time I think about my child’s cry for help, I calm down and tell myself not to give up. I hope that benefactors will support me and help me recover so I can return to my old mother and young child,” Ms. Thao said, sobbing.
