Delegates from various organizations attended the 5th National Congress of the Young Doctors Association, for the term 2025-2030.

Through various innovative models such as the Healthcare Innovation Network, the Doctor 4.0 Club, etc., the Association has demonstrated its role as an influential professional social organization among young intellectuals, contributing to the realization of policies on digital healthcare, precision medicine, and more.

According to statistics from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Young Doctors Association, during the 2020-2025 term, the country's young doctors provided free medical examinations, consultations, and medication to over 6.5 million people across the country. Through practical initiatives, thousands of elderly people have had their vision restored, and hundreds of thousands have been screened for cancer and other non-communicable diseases. During the complex Covid-19 pandemic, more than 25,000 members of the Young Doctors Association went to the front lines to fight the pandemic, providing remote medical support to over 6 million people through the "Doctors in Companionship" network.

The various levels of the association have rapidly transformed through numerous volunteer programs linked to digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI). As a result, the program for early detection of chronic lung diseases has been widely disseminated by young doctors to 20 provinces and cities, analyzing over 700,000 chest X-ray images using AI. In addition, a series of smart healthcare models, telemedicine, AI disease prediction, etc., have also been simultaneously implemented, meeting the requirements of modern preventive medicine.

Professor, Dr. Tran Xuan Bach, Vice President of the Vietnam Young Doctors Association, said: “Along with the proud achievements in protecting people's health, the Association has also expanded international cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO) and many medical associations in the region. On this new path, the Association has successfully coordinated and implemented many important medical conferences, including the 25th Asian Lung Cancer Conference (ACLC25), contributing to raising the position of Vietnamese medicine on the international stage. International volunteer programs in Laos and Cambodia continue to be maintained and effectively implemented by the Association...”.

Recently, the 5th National Congress of the Vietnam Young Doctors Association, for the 2025-2030 term, was solemnly held in Hanoi with nearly 500 official delegates in attendance. Guided by the spirit of action – “Aspiration to serve – Pioneering innovation – Breakthrough creativity to build a developing healthcare sector in the era of progress,” the Congress established three basic sets of targets: volunteer activities for the community; training and scientific research activities; and organizational development of the Association. The Congress also set a goal for the next five years to launch and implement four programs related to digital transformation for community health, smart medical volunteering, connecting young doctors globally, and supporting healthcare in border regions.

Having just returned from a mission to support flood victims in Dak Lak province at the end of November, Master's degree holder and doctor Do Doan Bach shared: "Through volunteer programs, I have learned a valuable lesson: the mission of young doctors is to be at the forefront, contributing to narrowing the professional gap between different levels of healthcare and, more importantly, maintaining the people's trust in doctors and medical professionals. However, to sustainably protect public health, volunteer medical examination and treatment programs need to be systematized with interconnected stages, ensuring accurate screening, follow-up, appropriate treatment based on circumstances, and maintaining communication so that no one is left behind."

Based on that experience, a delegate who won the title of Outstanding Young Vietnamese in 2021 proposed that the Vietnam Young Doctors Association research and consider implementing the "Doctor Companion 2.0" model. With roots in the "Doctor Companion" network that operated very effectively during the Covid-19 pandemic, the new model, envisioned by Master of Science and Doctor Do Doan Bach, is expected to become a specialized infrastructure for managing chronic diseases and many specific illnesses such as cardiovascular diseases, thereby contributing to standardizing practices and promoting digital transformation in healthcare.

Commenting on the 2020-2025 term of the Vietnam Young Doctors Association, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Youth Union Bui Quang Huy said that, along with the growth of traditional revolutionary action movements, the force of young doctors nationwide has gradually mastered technology, proactively created new medical models, flexibly adapted to the context of crises and long-term development requirements, and at the same time aimed at many breakthrough solutions, maximizing the potential and dedication of the intellectual youth.
