Having recently joined the training program, Lieutenant Vo Van Toan, platoon leader of the 12.7mm Platoon, Battalion 512, Regiment 892, Provincial Military Command, said: “I always believe that before demanding that soldiers be serious, I myself must be serious first. Before teaching others to cultivate willpower, I must cultivate it myself. I was once a new soldier, I struggled in the early days of training, and I felt pressured by the disciplined and challenging environment. But those years helped me cultivate the most important thing – unwavering willpower and never giving up.”
Upon becoming an officer, he understood even more that words are meaningless without exemplary actions. Therefore, this soldier in peacetime demonstrates his resolve through simple things: always being on time, never late even by a minute. Always completing his assigned tasks well; never backing down in the face of difficulties. He doesn't want to be a soldier who follows his commander only for rank, but also for the soldiers who trust and willingly follow him. Lieutenant Vo Van Toan's heartfelt words show that leading and inspiring soldiers is not easy. But through persistent effort, the young officers of Battalion 512 are worthily continuing the tradition of the previous generation, so that all can move forward steadily on the challenging military path.
Political lessons are continuously taught in the military environment through various forms. At this year's National Day celebration, Private Huynh Thanh Phat – Company 2, Battalion 512 – received a review of historical traditions from his unit, especially President Ho Chi Minh's 1945 Declaration of Independence. “For us young soldiers, the Declaration reminds us that we must not be indifferent to history, and even less so, we must not live irresponsibly in the present. Therefore, our duty as young people is not only to preserve the independence that our ancestors won, but also to live up to the spirit of the Declaration, contributing our youthful energy to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland in the new era,” Phat expressed.
Lieutenant Colonel Le Van I Nit, Secretary of the Youth Union of Regiment 892, said: “During major holidays and important events of the country and the unit, we always organize seminars aimed at arousing pride and responsibility in the younger generation in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. At the same time, we create a beneficial and healthy playground, improve spiritual life, train health, and contribute to building a rich and healthy cultural and spiritual life for officers, soldiers, and youth union members.”
Over the past period, the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Military Command have directed the Youth Union organizations within the provincial armed forces to promote the movement "Army Youth cultivating virtue, honing skills, being proactive, creative, and worthy of being called Ho Chi Minh's soldiers in the new era"; launching and implementing high-intensity, surprise emulation campaigns as guided by superiors, proactively achieving the political tasks of agencies and units, practically achieving the highest achievements to celebrate the anniversary; organizing youth seminars with the themes "The immortal spirit of the August Revolution and National Day 2/9"; "Army youth being proactive, creative, and competing to reach the highest peaks"; and "Army youth proudly marching forward under the Party flag".
Each youth union branch has at least one youth project or activity linked to specific events. Based on the situation and the unit's conditions and capabilities, each agency and unit organizes trips for cadres, union members, and young people to historical sites and monuments associated with the traditions of the army and the unit; combining these with activities of gratitude, social welfare, reporting achievements, commending outstanding individuals and exemplary youth; promoting the implementation of the youth union member training program; strengthening the training and recommendation of outstanding union members for Party membership on September 2nd; and celebrating the 11th All-Army Emulation Congress, the 12th Congress of the Party Committee of the Army, and the 14th National Congress of the Party.
Colonel Cao Minh Tam, Deputy Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command, affirmed: “Through practical actions, the youth of the provincial armed forces wish to contribute to educating , encouraging, and motivating cadres, union members, youth, and the people to continue to uphold the patriotic tradition and the glorious tradition of the heroic Vietnamese People's Army; the spirit of patriotic emulation, self-reliance, self-improvement, daring to innovate and be determined to innovate, not shying away from difficulties, hardships, and sacrifices, to excellently fulfill their duties. Expressing deep gratitude for the great contributions and sacrifices of previous generations is also a way for today's youth to strengthen their faith and promote their responsibility towards the task of building the army, consolidating national defense and security, contributing to building a prosperous and happy country and firmly protecting the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.”
