Another Vietnamese horror film hits theaters.

Director Luong Dinh Dung officially returns to the horror genre with the film *Hill of Torture: The Return of the Black Theory*, scheduled for nationwide release on September 26th. *Hill of Torture: The Return of the Black Theory* is a psychological thriller that brings a dark and mysterious atmosphere from ancient caves, tranquil lakes, and old forests to hanging red dolls and catfish used as eerie symbols.

According to director Luong Dinh Dung, the script was written by him with the advice of experts from Taiwan and China; it explores the story of a guardian spirit with the message: All evil must be punished, but if that punishment is too瘋狂 (frenzied), it will harm innocent people. Besides its fresh content, the film also intentionally showcases and promotes the beautiful scenery of Vietnam for the first time on the big screen, such as Ban Bu Cave (Thanh Hoa), formerly a refuge for the Lam Son rebels; Ma Hao Waterfall (Thanh Hoa); Tam Diep pineapple hill (Ninh Binh); Moc Chau old-growth forest; and the "haunted house" in Hanoi .

The main cast includes Nguyen Xuan Thang (winner of The Next Gentleman 2024) in a complex psychological role; Hua Vi Van as journalist An, who investigates the mystery behind the unexplained death; and Yu Duong and Be Quyen, promising to bring a new, eerie atmosphere.

According to the producers, *The Torture Hill: The Return of the Black Doctrine* is scheduled to be screened at the Sundance Film Festival in the US in February 2026, the Moscow International Film Festival in 2026, and many other international film festivals and events. The film is also expected to be released in 51 countries.
