Tourists visit Thuy Bieu garden house by bicycle tour

On a land area of ​​over 3,200m² at 43 Luong Quan Street, Mr. Dang Van Thanh's garden house has started welcoming guests since 2016 with resort services, cuisine , herbal foot baths and tours to traditional craft villages. However, after nearly 10 years of operation, the accommodation system and garden have deteriorated, no longer meeting the increasing needs of tourists. In early 2025, Mr. Thanh submitted an application for support to renovate 3 accommodation rooms, 3 toilets, renovate the garden landscape and support seedlings for tourism business. His application was approved by the Management Board (MB) and Protection of Hue Garden Houses in the Project "Policy to support, protect and promote the value of typical garden houses", implemented in Thuan Hoa district in 2025.

“After the main roads and alleys connecting the garden area were invested in synchronously, the number of visitors increased significantly. On peak days, we welcomed 3 to 5 groups of visitors, each group of 20-30 people. Support for upgrading facilities not only helps us serve customers better but also enhances the value of the garden tourism model, which has great potential in Hue ,” Mr. Thanh shared.

At the same time, Mr. Ton That Phuong's garden house in Luong Quan residential group, Thuy Bieu ward was also supported to renovate the space, serving the exploitation and development of tourism services.

According to Mr. Vo Dang Thai, Chairman of Thuy Bieu Ward People's Committee, there are currently 5 garden houses in the area that have been included in the list of protected and developed according to the Project. Of these, 4 garden houses have organized tourism business activities, but many places are seriously degraded, not competitive enough or creating a strong impression on visitors.

“Supporting the renovation of infrastructure not only solves the problem of degradation but also contributes to improving the capacity to serve tourists, affirming the image and brand of Hue garden houses in the context of the tourism industry restructuring towards green and sustainable direction,” Mr. Thai emphasized.

To implement the Project, since 2024, the People's Committee of Hue City (now Thuan Hoa and Phu Xuan districts) has guided households in the Thuy Bieu garden cluster to register for support to upgrade the campus, renovate toilets and accommodation rooms. However, due to many objective factors such as unfavorable weather or some households temporarily postponing receiving support, the implementation progress has been affected.

Vice Chairman of Thuan Hoa District People's Committee, Mr. Truong Dinh Hanh said that in 2025, the district will continue to promote the implementation of the project with support contents such as: Landscape embellishment, upgrading accommodation facilities, vocational training and transfer, surveying and building new tour routes, supporting detailed planning and investing in basic infrastructure. The total estimated budget for the items in the year is more than 1.9 billion VND.

“Developing garden tourism is an important direction to enhance the value of heritage and livelihoods for people. With the cooperation of the government and the initiative of households, Hue garden houses will not only be a place to preserve traditional culture but also an attractive destination in the journey to explore the ancient capital,” Mr. Hanh affirmed.

With systematic and synchronous investment from infrastructure to service quality, it is expected that in the near future, the garden tourism model in Thuy Bieu and many other localities of Hue will develop strongly, contributing positively to the sustainable tourism picture of the city.
