Pre-registration is available until May 20.
According to information from the Military Recruitment Board of the Ministry of National Defense , the preliminary selection is being carried out (starting from March 25 to May 20), including submitting preliminary registration documents. Therefore, from now until May 20, candidates who have not registered for the preliminary selection but wish to can still go to the district-level Military Recruitment Board (for students and discharged youth), the regimental-level Military Recruitment Board or equivalent (for youth in active service) to register and be pre-selected according to regulations.
Colonel Nguyen Van Thai, Head of the Secretariat, Military Recruitment Board of the Ministry of National Defense, emphasized: Candidates who want to register for admission to military schools must pass the preliminary selection and meet the standards prescribed by the Ministry of National Defense. Therefore, to be proactive in participating in the preliminary selection, at this time, candidates who wish to apply to military schools need to quickly go to the Military Recruitment Board to find out information and register for the preliminary selection.
Each candidate who wants to be selected for the preliminary selection must complete a registration form. The application form issued by the Military Recruitment Board of the Ministry of National Defense includes: 3 preliminary registration forms; 1 copy of background check and verification; 1 health examination form. For the preliminary registration forms, candidates must declare themselves and have confirmation from the Military Recruitment Board at the district level or the regimental level. The remaining two types of forms will be reviewed, verified and examined by the Military Recruitment Board.
Candidates who are young people outside the Army register for the preliminary selection and buy the application form at the district-level Military Service Board. Candidates who are active military personnel buy the application form and register for the preliminary selection at the regimental level unit or equivalent. Candidates must fill out the application forms and documents themselves and submit the application form in person, participating in the preliminary selection within the prescribed time.
Some notes on the criteria in the preliminary selection
Candidates participating in the preliminary selection for Military schools must meet the standards according to 4 contents: Political background; culture; health and age.
According to the Military Recruitment Board of the Ministry of National Defense, for political background, candidates must voluntarily register for military schools; have good moral qualities, be a member of the Communist Party of Vietnam or a member of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union ; have a clear personal and family political background, and meet the requirements for admission to the Communist Party of Vietnam (for candidates who are not yet party members). Candidates who are currently soldiers must be evaluated by their unit as having completed their tasks well during their time serving in the army.
The age of candidates as of 2023 (the year of application) is determined by two groups: young people outside the Army and active military personnel. For young people outside the Army, the age is from 17 to 21 years old (born from 2002 to 2006). For active military personnel, discharged military personnel and citizens who have completed their People's Public Security service, the age for consideration is from 18 to 23 years old (born from 2000 to 2005). Note that the age is only calculated by year of birth, not by month of birth.
Regarding educational level, candidates applying to the Military School must ensure graduation from high school in the form of regular or continuing education by the time of the admission exam, according to the general regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.
Regarding health conditions, candidates must ensure that they meet 8 general criteria (for women, there is an additional criterion for obstetrics and gynecology): Physical strength; eyes; ears, nose, throat; teeth, jaw, face; internal medicine; neuropsychiatry; surgery; dermatology. For the group of schools training command, political, and logistics officers, only male candidates are accepted, candidates must be 1.65m or taller, weigh 50kg or more; candidates with myopia are not accepted.
Particularly, the group of schools training technical officers (including the academies: Military Engineering; Military Science and the aviation engineer training system of the Air Defense - Air Force Academy) recruits male candidates who are 1.63m or taller and weigh 50kg or more; female candidates who are 1.54m or taller and weigh 48kg or more. Regarding eyes, candidates can have myopia refractive error of no more than 3 diopters; the post-correction vision test must score 1 (eye vision must be 10/10; total vision of both eyes must be 19/10 or more).
In 2023, the health criteria in the TSQS for some subjects will be adjusted accordingly. Firstly, for candidates with a permanent residence of 3 years or more in region 1, islands and candidates who are ethnic minorities applying to military schools, male candidates must be 1.60m or taller and weigh 48kg or more; female candidates must be 1.52m or taller and weigh 46kg or more (previous regulations required male candidates to be 1.62m or taller and weigh 50kg or more). Secondly, for candidates from 16 ethnic minorities with very few people, the height must be 1.58m or taller and weigh 46kg or more; Female candidates must be 1.52m or taller and weigh 44kg or more (according to previous regulations, male candidates must be 1.60m or taller and weigh 47kg or more).
