Speaking to reporters on the afternoon of July 17, the exceptional candidate Nguyen The Tu said he had completed the procedures to appeal his history exam results.
In this exam, Mr. Tu only took three subjects. His scores were 5.25 in Literature, 7.25 in History, and 7 in Geography.
A candidate in his 50s took the social science combined exam on June 28th. He only took the history and geography exams.
Upon learning his scores, Mr. Tu felt disappointed because his history score was not as high as he had hoped, the subject he felt most confident in. Geography, which he found very difficult and couldn't use the atlas due to the small font, resulted in a higher score than he had anticipated.
"I have applied for a re-evaluation. I did very carefully on this exam and predicted I would score 8 points or higher," Mr. Tú affirmed.
Mr. Tu said that the main purpose of his studies is to set an example for his children, so that they understand that learning has no limits. Currently working as a driver, if he gets into university, Mr. Tu will rearrange his work schedule to prioritize his studies.
"During the exam preparation days, I felt very happy because my two daughters were there to support me. Studying helped me gain more knowledge to 'upgrade' myself. With these scores, I will apply to three majors: museum studies, library science, and publishing business at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Culture," Mr. Tu said.
According to regulations from the Ministry of Education and Training, candidates wishing to appeal their high school graduation exam results must submit their appeal application to the place where they registered for the exam from July 17th to July 26th.
The review of exam papers and the announcement of results will be completed no later than August 4th. Candidates' scores will be updated in the general admissions system and candidates will be notified.
