According to Ms. Phi Thi Tho, an English teacher at Nguyen Du Secondary School (Nam Tu Liem District), this year's English entrance exam for 10th grade was quite "manageable".
In terms of structure, this year's exam is similar to recent years. "The exam can be said to be of moderate difficulty, with over 60% of the questions at the knowledge level. Only about 2-3 questions are at the application level to differentiate students. The knowledge units tested in the exam are mainly from the junior high school English curriculum, primarily grade 9," Ms. Tho commented.

Ms. Tho also believes that with this exam, candidates who have a solid grasp of basic phonetics, vocabulary, and grammar can complete 70-80% of the test. However, to achieve a score of 9 or 10, students must have a good vocabulary and reasoning ability. The knowledge tested in the exam is broad in scope, not testing difficult areas such as phrasal verbs or idioms.
The reading passages covered familiar topics, and the vocabulary and questions were quite easy. However, the classification questions mainly focused on the reading passages, testing students' vocabulary and judgment skills. The writing section also tested students on familiar structures and grammar points. "Overall, with this year's exam, students can easily achieve a score of 7-8. A perfect 10 this year is also not too difficult to achieve," Ms. Tho said.
Ms. Le Thi Ly, an English teacher at Hoang Mai Secondary School (Hoang Mai District), also commented that this year's English exam was good and effectively differentiated students. The knowledge tested was focused on the textbook curriculum, not difficult, and fundamental, creating a relaxed atmosphere for students while taking the exam. With this level of difficulty, achieving scores of 9 or 10 is not hard.
"The phonetics section focuses on basic pronunciation and stress rules that students regularly practice. The vocabulary and grammar sections also create a comfortable learning environment with basic structures. However, students must think and analyze the questions carefully. This section does not contain any tricky or challenging questions. The communication section also consists of two very familiar question-and-answer formats: a suggestion question and a congratulatory question."
"The synonym and antonym sections also contain excellent questions that require students to think critically and translate the meaning of the sentences to choose the correct answer. The reading section, with two reading passages on familiar and pleasant topics—festivals and tourism— is not difficult, but there are questions that help differentiate students based on their reading comprehension ability. I rate the writing section as good, with diverse structures, and there are also slightly more challenging questions to select students who can score a perfect 10," Ms. Ly analyzed.
