The intense heatwave that has lasted since the beginning of summer has caused a surge in demand for air conditioning and refrigeration products in the Nha Trang area. Many customers have to wait several days for their turn to have their appliances installed.

Purchasing power increased

These days, at electronics supermarkets and retail stores, the number of customers inquiring about and purchasing refrigeration products has increased significantly compared to a few months ago, up about 20-30% compared to the same period last year. On peak days, some electronics supermarkets sell hundreds of cooling products daily. Among them, air conditioners are the best-selling item, especially models with a capacity of 1 to 1.5 HP and integrated Inverter technology for energy saving, priced from 6 to 9 million VND. Mr. Nguyen Hieu Hoang Vu - Manager of Chanh Bon Electronics Supermarket (Nha Trang ward) said: "To meet the needs of the people, the unit proactively prepares a plentiful supply of goods with many models and diverse prices. The current consumer trend focuses on products that can save electricity, filter fine dust, and have smart connectivity." Mr. Nguyen Huu Thang (Tay Nha Trang ward) said: "For many years, my family only used one air conditioner for the main room, and the other room was quite airy so we only used electric fans. However, this year the hot weather has lasted a long time, especially at noon and at night, and the children are not sleeping well, so my family decided to install an air conditioner. We thought it would be installed right away after we bought it, but due to the large number of customers, we had to wait 3 days for our turn."

Many elderly people who were used to using electric fans are now installing air conditioners during hot weather. Ms. Trinh Ngoc Anh (Nam Nha Trang ward) said that previously, her family only used electric fans because they weren't used to sleeping in a cold room. However, the prolonged hot weather recently has caused her frequent insomnia, so she decided to install an air conditioner.

Therefore, during peak periods, customers often have to wait 3 to 5 days for their turn. "Currently, the biggest pressure on businesses is the lack of installation personnel. If customers are willing to wait a few days, the company can still arrange it, but it's very difficult to meet the demand for immediate installation," said Mr. Nguyen Hieu Hoang Vu.

Not only are the technicians at electronics supermarkets fully booked, but many freelance air conditioning technicians are also completely booked. Tran Van Phuc, an air conditioning technician in Tay Nha Trang ward, said that for about a month now, he and his colleagues have had almost no days off. Each day, one technician has to install 7 to 8 air conditioners, working continuously from 7 am to 7 pm. Customers call for more, but they have to schedule it for the next day. Besides installing new units, the demand for cleaning and maintaining old air conditioners has also increased sharply, leaving the technical team constantly overloaded.

Representatives from several supermarkets and electronics stores predict that if the hot weather continues, demand for home appliances will remain high in the coming period. Consumers should proactively choose suitable products and place orders early to avoid overcrowding during the peak summer season.
