Fashion that promotes Vietnamese culture.

For young designer Phan Dang Hoang, each collection is not only an artistic creation but also a way to promote the image of Vietnam to the international stage at Milan Fashion Week.

Speaking to Tuổi Trẻ newspaper , Hoàng shared that immediately after graduating from university with a degree in fashion design in Italy, his first two collections were inspired by Vietnamese culture. These designs helped him realize that his homeland is an endless source of inspiration for fashion.

Over the years, Phan Đăng Hoàng has consistently introduced numerous collections inspired by famous painters at Milan Fashion Week . These include the Lacquer collection inspired by the lacquer paintings of Nguyễn Gia Trí; and the Ceramics collection inspired by the silk paintings of the renowned painter Nguyễn Phan Chánh. Prior to that, he presented collections inspired by the works of sculptor Điềm Phùng Thị and the late painter Lê Phổ.

When translating inspiration from painting into fashion, Phan Đăng Hoàng always strives to retain the original spirit of the artwork, from the colors and lines to the message the artist conveys. Because each design is not just clothing, but also a cultural story told through the language of fashion.

In addition, he also focuses on using traditional materials such as silk and Lãnh Mỹ A fabric, with the desire to introduce products of natural origin to international friends.

I believe that in the next 10 years, Vietnam can develop a stronger fashion industry with many young designers appearing on international runways, establishing their position on the world fashion map. I will remain steadfast in continuing to explore artistic stories, people, and traditional materials to bring Vietnam to the world.

Vietnam has the advantage of possessing a rich culture, but the challenge is how to convey those traditional values in a modern way, preserving its identity while remaining relevant to contemporary fashion.

"Hoang hopes that when international audiences look at the design, they can appreciate its aesthetic beauty and then become curious to learn about the cultural story embedded behind it. What Hoang wants to convey most is the spirit of the Vietnamese people: diligence, a thirst for learning, national pride, and a will to strive for success," he said.
