Today (June 29th), the Northwest region of Northern Vietnam and Quang Ninh province will experience rain, moderate rain, and thunderstorms, with some areas experiencing heavy rain.
Rainfall measured from 7 AM to 3 PM on June 29th exceeded 50mm in some areas, such as Phinh Ho (Quang Ninh) 73.6mm, Ta Phin 1 ( Dien Bien ) 68.6mm, Chien Pho (Tuyen Quang) 62.8mm, Km22 (Son La) 58.6mm, and Doan Tinh (Quang Ninh) 53.4mm.
Forecasts indicate that from the evening of June 29th to July 1st, the Northern region and Thanh Hoa province will experience moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms, with some areas experiencing very heavy rainfall.
The heaviest rainfall was concentrated in the provinces of Lang Son, Cao Bang, Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Son La, Phu Tho, Quang Ninh, and Hai Phong, with rainfall amounts ranging from 70-150mm, and in some places exceeding 300mm.
Other areas in Northern Vietnam and Thanh Hoa province are receiving 40-100mm of rain during this period, with some localized areas exceeding 200mm. The rain is concentrated in the late afternoon, evening, night, and morning.

Looking further ahead, on the night of July 1st, heavy rain will continue in the mountainous and midland areas of Northern Vietnam with rainfall amounts generally ranging from 20-40mm, and exceeding 80mm in some places. From July 2nd onwards, heavy rain is expected to gradually decrease in the North.
Due to the impact of heavy rains in recent days, today (June 29), water levels on some rivers in Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, and Bac Ninh provinces are rising, especially in the upper reaches of the Thuong River at Cau Son station and the Bang Giang River at Bang Giang station, which are above alarm level 1.
Forecasts indicate that from tonight until June 30th, a flood surge of 2-4 meters is likely to occur on small rivers and upstream of major rivers in the Northern region. During this flood, the peak water levels on small rivers could reach levels BĐ1-BĐ2.
The meteorological agency warns of a high risk of flash floods and landslides in the mountainous and midland provinces of Northern Vietnam.
Rising floodwaters also inundate low-lying areas along the riverbanks, affecting activities such as waterway transportation, aquaculture, agricultural production, people's lives, and socio-economic activities.
Additionally, on the evening and night of June 29th, Nghe An province, the area from Hue to Lam Dong, and the Southern region will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms with rainfall of 10-30mm, and some areas receiving over 80mm. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind.
