New information about the North-South high-speed railway

(Baohatinh.vn) - The Ministry of Construction, in coordination with the Ministry of Science and Technology, has developed and finalized drafts of 37 Vietnamese standards based on international (ISO) equivalence. These are general standards not directly related to the core technologies of high-speed rail.

At a recent meeting to hear reports on the promulgation of regulations, standards, and related contents for the North-South high-speed railway project, Deputy Minister of Construction Bui Xuan Dung stated that from April 2025 to the present, specialized units and experts have collected and compiled 457 railway industry standards for consideration and application to the North-South high-speed railway project (including 202 Vietnamese standards – TCVN, 137 European standards, and 118 Chinese standards).

In addition, the Vietnamese technical standards (TCVN) on surveying, testing, construction materials, etc., currently applied to the road sector, also apply to high-speed rail projects.

Before October 30th, the Ministry of Construction will issue 37 sets of Vietnamese National Standards (TCVN) equivalent to ISO standards.

Based on that, the Ministry of Construction, in coordination with the Ministry of Science and Technology , has developed and finalized drafts of 37 Vietnamese National Standards (TCVN) based on international equivalent standards (ISO). These are general standards not directly related to the core technologies of high-speed rail.

It is expected that before October 30th, the Ministry of Construction will issue 37 sets of Vietnamese National Standards (TCVN) equivalent to ISO standards. After the Government decides on the technology for the high-speed railway, in addition to the 37 sets of TCVN issued on the basis of ISO equivalence, the project will directly apply the standards of the technology transfer country to the main components, ensuring consistency with the selected technology and meeting the safety and quality requirements of the project. Priority will be given to applying international standards as much as possible.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha emphasized that the TCVN sets equivalent to ISO are the management basis for the entire project from survey, design, construction... to signal information equipment, locomotives, and carriages.

The Ministry of Construction and the Ministry of Science and Technology are urgently working to finalize and issue Vietnamese National Standards (TCVN) equivalent to ISO standards, in accordance with the Prime Minister's directives, as a basis for implementing the next steps of the North-South high-speed railway project.
