Traffic opens on the Van Ninh - Cam Lo Expressway component project.

The Van Ninh - Cam Lo section is a component project of the North-South Expressway Eastern section construction project, phase 2021-2025. The project was approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 1454/QD-TTg dated September 1, 2021, on approving the road network planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050; the Ministry of Transport (now the Ministry of Construction ) approved the project in Decision No. 905/QD-BGTVT dated July 13, 2025, and assigned the Ho Chi Minh Highway Project Management Board as the investor.

The total investment for the project is approximately VND 9,919.78 billion, using state budget funds. The total length of the project is approximately 65.55 km; of which the section passing through the former Quang Binh province is approximately 33.017 km long, including the communes of Truong Ninh, Ninh, Truong Phu, and Kim Ngan; the section passing through the former Quang Tri province is approximately 32.53 km long, including the communes of Ben Quan, Vinh Thuy, Con Tien, and Hieu Giang.

The Van Ninh - Cam Lo expressway on its first day of opening to traffic.

The project starts at Km675+400, adjacent to the Bung - Van Ninh Expressway Project in Truong Ninh commune, Quang Tri province, and ends at Km740+885, adjacent to the Cam Lo - La Son Expressway Project in Hieu Giang commune, Quang Tri province.

The project commenced on January 1, 2023, and was officially completed and opened to traffic today (August 19, 2025).

Attending and speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Dang Quang, Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Council, emphasized that the inauguration of the Van Ninh - Cam Lo section not only contributes to the completion of the Eastern North-South Expressway but also opens up great opportunities for Quang Tri to attract investment and develop tourism. The project will become an important driving force to promote socio-economic growth, improve people's lives, and affirm Quang Tri's connecting role on the national transportation map.

"On behalf of the provincial leadership, I would like to congratulate the Project Management Board, the contractors, and the supervisory consulting unit for their efforts in overcoming difficulties to complete the project ahead of schedule. We are proud of this project; from now on, Quang Tri has another expressway, and also has a complete network of connecting infrastructure linking the Ngang Pass to Hue," Mr. Quang emphasized.

Mr. Nguyen Dang Quang also directed the leaders of the 8 communes where the project passes through to continue reviewing and supporting the people and organizations affected by the project to ensure that there is no negative impact on their livelihoods and business activities.
