Opening of Van Ninh - Cam Lo Expressway Component Project

The Van Ninh - Cam Lo section project belongs to the North - South Eastern Expressway Construction Project for the 2021 - 2025 period. The project was approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 1454/QD-TTg dated September 1, 2021 on approving the Road Network Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050; The Ministry of Transport (now the Ministry of Construction ) approved the project in Decision No. 905/QD-BGTVT dated July 13, 2025 and assigned the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board as the investor.

The total investment of the project is about 9,919.78 billion VND, using state budget capital. The total length of the project is about 65.55 km; of which the part passing through the old Quang Binh province is about 33.017 km long, including the communes (Truong Ninh, Ninh, Truong Phu and Kim Ngan); the part passing through the old Quang Tri province is about 32.53 km long, including the communes (Ben Quan, Vinh Thuy, Con Tien, Hieu Giang).

Van Ninh - Cam Lo Expressway on the first day of opening to traffic

The project has its starting point at Km675+400, adjacent to the Bung - Van Ninh Expressway Project in Truong Ninh Commune, Quang Tri Province and its ending point at Km740+885, adjacent to the Cam Lo - La Son Expressway Project, in Hieu Giang Commune, Quang Tri Province.

The project started on January 1, 2023 and was officially completed and opened to traffic today (August 19, 2025).

Attending and speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Dang Quang, Chairman of the People's Council of Quang Tri province, emphasized that the inauguration of the Van Ninh - Cam Lo section not only contributes to the completion of the North - South expressway in the East but also opens up great opportunities for Quang Tri to attract investment and develop tourism. The project will become an important driving force to promote socio-economic growth, improve people's lives, and at the same time affirm the connecting role of Quang Tri on the national traffic map.

"On behalf of the provincial leaders, I would like to congratulate the Project Management Board, contractors, and supervision consultants for their efforts to overcome difficulties to complete the project ahead of schedule. Proud of this project, from now on Quang Tri has had another expressway project, as well as fully converging interconnecting projects connecting from Ngang Pass to Hue," Mr. Quang emphasized.

Mr. Nguyen Dang Quang also directed the leaders of the 8 communes where the project passes through to continue to review and support people and organizations affected by the project to ensure that it does not negatively affect their livelihoods and production and business activities.
