Goalkeeper Dinh Trieu suffers from food poisoning

According to confirmation from head coach Chu Dinh Nghiem, goalkeeper Nguyen Dinh Trieu suffered food poisoning while preparing for the match between Hai Phong and Hanoi in round 18 of V-League 2024 - 2025.

"Dinh Trieu suffered food poisoning last night, is being examined for intestinal problems, and the coaching staff is monitoring him," coach Chu Dinh Nghiem shared after the 0-0 draw with Hanoi on the evening of April 13 at Lach Tray Stadium.

Unable to register Dinh Trieu, coach Chu Dinh Nghiem gave the opportunity to start the match to Nguyen Van Toan and this goalkeeper responded to the coaching staff's trust when he played well to help Hai Phong keep 1 point against the championship candidate from the capital. "Van Toan played well, even though he hasn't played for a long time," said Mr. Nghiem.

The captain of Hai Phong FC does not know when Dinh Trieu will return. With a recent history of intestinal problems, he may have to miss the 19th round match when Hai Phong hosts Binh Dinh at home on April 18 and the 20th round match against Hoang Anh Gia Lai on April 27.

This is the second time Dinh Trieu has been so hurt that he has had to sit out since the 2024 ASEAN Cup. After a collision in the finals, Trieu suffered a bruised intestine and had to be hospitalized for minor surgery and treatment, so he missed several V-League matches after the Lunar New Year. When he joined the national team during FIFA Days last March, Dinh Trieu also had to sit out training or practice separately due to back pain.

Dinh Trieu was born in 1991, from Thai Binh, and is the number 1 goalkeeper of Hai Phong Club and the Vietnam national team. He is one of the players with the most special background in V-League, having quit football to work as a security guard and go to school. It was not until he was 29 that he had his first professional match for Binh Phuoc in 2020.

The turning point in Dinh Trieu's career came in 2022, when coach Chu Dinh Nghiem came to lead Hai Phong Club and brought Trieu to the light. After 2 consecutive seasons with Hai Phong competing for the championship, Dinh Trieu caught the eye of coach Philippe Troussier and was called up to be a reserve in the Vietnam national team.

When the team transferred to Mr. Kim Sang Sik, Dinh Trieu rose to become the number 1 goalkeeper, playing most of the journey to the 2024 ASEAN Cup championship.

Another Vietnamese player who suffered an injury in round 18 was central defender Nguyen Thanh Binh (The Cong - Viettel). The player born in 2000 suffered a pain in his big toe and had to leave the field in the 7th minute of the match against Ha Tinh on April 11.

Talking to Tuoi Tre Online , Thanh Binh said he was not in too much pain, and did not have any damage to his toe joints, so he did not need to have an X-ray, he just needed to rest and recover.
