Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is considering his options for the Red Devils' goalkeeping position, not ruling out the possibility of finding a new goalkeeper amidst interest from Monaco in Andre Onana.

The Portuguese manager wants a leader in defense and has long admired Emiliano Martinez – a two-time FIFA World Goalkeeper (in 2022 and 2024).

A source revealed: "Emi is a close friend of Lisandro Martinez on the Argentina national team, so he's very keen to join Manchester United. He's turned down several offers in the hope of moving to Old Trafford."

Coach Amorim is a big fan of Emiliano Martinez. He even wanted to sign the Argentinian goalkeeper when he was managing Sporting back in 2020.

Ruben Amorim wants a leader in the defense, and Emiliano Martinez fits that requirement perfectly."

Andre Onana is facing an uncertain future after a string of poor performances since joining Manchester United for £47 million from Inter Milan.

Monaco are in contact with Manchester United regarding the transfer of the Cameroonian goalkeeper. If they successfully offload Onana, the door to Emiliano Martinez joining the Red Devils will be wide open.

Last year, Emi Martinez signed a five-year contract with Aston Villa, earning £150,000 a week. This season, the Midlands club is facing financial difficulties after failing to qualify for the Champions League.

Therefore, Aston Villa will be open to offers for Emiliano Martinez - currently valued at over £30 million.
