At the chrysanthemum garden of Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc in Sa Dec ward ( Dong Thap province), there is always a large crowd of visitors and customers placing orders. While busily adjusting the chrysanthemum trellis, Mr. Phuc shared: “This year's festival is large-scale and has many new activities, so we farmers have prepared very carefully. Each pot of flowers is not only for sale but also represents the brand of Sa Dec flower village. Just thinking about our products being admired by customers near and far makes me feel excited.”

Not only Phuc's family, but thousands of flower-growing households in the village are also busy. Rows of marigolds, peonies, carnations, Taiwanese chrysanthemums... are showing off their colors in the sun, meticulously cared for to ensure they bloom in time for the occasion.

Besides traditional flowers, many gardeners are boldly investing in new varieties. Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Han, the owner of an orchid garden, said that she is currently experimenting with growing imported orchid varieties to participate in the exhibition of 1,000 flower and ornamental plant varieties at the Festival.

"I expect this to be an opportunity to showcase my unique products and expand my connections with businesses and tourists," Ms. Han shared.

That bustling atmosphere also spread to the streets, parks, and squares. Residents and local authorities beautified the landscape, erected flower arches, and planted more ornamental trees. The entire flower village seemed to have donned a new, more vibrant coat than ever before.

Journalist Thai Cuong from Vietnam Business Magazine is discussing the ornamental flower cultivation profession with farmers in Sa Dec flower village.

According to Mr. Huynh Minh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Thap province, the 2nd Sa Dec Flower and Ornamental Plant Festival will take place from December 27, 2025 to January 4, 2026, and is expected to attract approximately 500,000 visitors. The festival space will be expanded throughout Sa Dec ward with a series of unique activities: the N7 flower street, an exhibition of 1,000 flower and ornamental plant varieties, a flower market, a recreation of the old Sa Dec market, hot air balloon rides, mapping projections, and a live performance show titled "A Hundred Years of Fragrance and Beauty of the Flower Village"...

Mr. Vo Minh Tam, a long-time bonsai farmer in the century-old flower village of Sa Dec, enthusiastically said: “This is a rare opportunity for the ornamental flower growing profession to be honored. I have prepared more than 50 bonsai apricot trees, hoping to both sell them and promote my skills. The more visitors there are, the happier the farmers will be.”

The festival is not just a celebration of flowers, but also a community celebration. Hundreds of households participated in the competition for the most beautiful flower arches and gardens; young people eagerly explored the creative space "Dreams Blooming"; and women showcased their figures in the "Floral Ao Dai" parade. Cultural and culinary activities, the OCOP fair, music nights, and a New Year's Eve countdown program for 2026... promise to create a colorful festival picture, enticing tourists to stay longer in Sa Dec.

In particular, this year the authorities are focusing on urban beautification, building new flower-lined streets, and upgrading Sa Dec Park into a distinctive flower and ornamental plant space. This is not only preparation for the Festival, but also a long-term investment to help Sa Dec continue to affirm its position as the "flower capital of the Mekong Delta".

Bidding farewell to the farmers toiling under the sun, one realizes that the Festival is not just a cultural and tourism event, but also a source of pride and motivation for the entire community. In each potted flower and ornamental plant, there is the sweat, the hopes, and the love of their craft from these honest, down-to-earth people.

And when the lotus blossoms bloom at the end of December, Sa Dec will surely welcome a vibrant festival season, leaving visitors with sweet memories of a hospitable land of lotuses, bursting with the colors of spring.
