(NLĐO) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has requested that the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway project catch up on the delayed progress and accelerate its completion.
On the afternoon of March 18, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired an online meeting with leaders of ministries, sectors, and localities in Can Tho, An Giang , Hau Giang, and Soc Trang, regarding accelerating the construction progress of Phase 1 of the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang Expressway Project.

According to the Ministry of Construction, this expressway project (phase 1) has a length of 188.2 km, a scale of 4 lanes, and a total investment of VND 44,691 billion. The required progress is to basically complete the entire route in 2026 and have the entire project fully operational in 2027. The project is divided into 4 component projects.
After listening to the opinions of local leaders and ministries, the Prime Minister, in his concluding remarks at the meeting, emphasized that this expressway passes through four key provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region – an area that urgently needs improvements in transportation infrastructure.
Therefore, the Prime Minister requested that Party committees, governments, and key agencies within the local political system, especially local secretaries and chairmen, need to be more decisive, vigorous, and effective in their work, giving their all and coordinating more closely and synchronously; contractors should be more proactive and flexible; and a high sense of responsibility should be emphasized, especially in resolving issues related to raw materials. The military, police, youth, women's, and veterans' forces need to coordinate closely and provide assistance and support to investors and contractors in whatever way they can.
The entities operate on the principle of "3 Yes's" and "2 No's": "3 Yes's" means benefiting the country, benefiting the people, and benefiting businesses; "2 No's" means no personal motives, no corruption, no negative practices, and no loss or waste of state assets, people's assets, or national resources; everything is for the common good, the national interest; whatever benefits the people and the country is done to the utmost, and whatever harms the people and the country is avoided to the utmost.
The head of government requested that the project regain its lost momentum and accelerate its progress further, aiming for completion by June 2026, while ensuring quality, because the sooner it is completed, the greater its effectiveness.
To achieve this, the Prime Minister directed that land clearance work must be completed by March 2025, and the Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) must urgently relocate high-voltage power poles.
Emphasizing that there is no shortage of sand in total, and that the obstacles and difficulties stem from management issues, the Prime Minister requested leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and the Ministry of Construction, under the direction of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, to work with local authorities to focus on reviewing and resolving all obstacles related to construction materials, ensuring that contractors do not complain about shortages.
Contractors continue to demonstrate the spirit of working tirelessly, braving the sun and rain, working overtime and extra shifts, eating quickly and sleeping urgently, working day and night, and working three shifts and four teams, through holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year). The Ministry of Construction is working with contractors, exchanging information and providing guidance on technical measures to improve productivity, shorten construction time, and ensure quality.
The Prime Minister also directed increased inspection and supervision, and instructed the Ministry of Public Security to investigate, detect, and strictly handle any violations (if any).
