Following their disappointing defeat against Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, under coach Patrick Kluivert, entered the match with great determination. The Southeast Asian team controlled the ball well and executed many fluid passing combinations thanks to the dynamism of Thom Haye, Kevin Diks, and Dean Ruben James.
Despite creating several notable opportunities, "Garuda" were unable to break through Iraq's disciplined and experienced defense.

In the second half, coach Kluivert brought on attacking players like Ole ter Haar Romeny and Miliano Jonathans to increase the pressure.
However, the turning point of the match belonged to Iraq. In the 76th minute, Zidane Iqbal – a former Manchester United player – unleashed a powerful low shot from the edge of the penalty area, beating goalkeeper Maarten Paes and giving Iraq a 1-0 lead.
For the remainder of the match, Indonesia pushed forward in search of an equalizer but were powerless against Iraq's solid defense. Their desperate efforts resulted in several more yellow cards, including for Ole Romeny and Calvin Verdonk.
After more than 100 minutes of play, Iraq secured a 1-0 victory, thus keeping alive their hopes of topping Group B ahead of their upcoming match against Saudi Arabia, while Indonesia officially ended their dream of participating in the 2026 World Cup.
