VTC NewsVTC News06/03/2023

“I know what U20 Iran is like and I also understand who I am. You can see the U20 Vietnam team in the first and second matches. If we lose to U20 Iran, we could lose everything. As I said in the previous press conference, U20 Iran, U20 Qatar, U20 Australia all need to be respected,” coach Hoang Anh Tuan said before the final match of U20 Vietnam in the group stage of the 2023 AFC U20 Championship.

U20 Vietnam has a big advantage to continue when it is at the top of Group B of the 2023 AFC U20 Championship finals with 6 points after 2 wins over U20 Australia (1-0) and U20 Qatar (2-1). Coach Hoang Anh Tuan and his students are 3 points ahead of U20 Iran and U20 Australia. However, U20 Vietnam is still not sure of a place in the quarterfinals.

To qualify for the next round, Khuat Van Khang and his teammates must score points in the match against U20 Iran. If they lose, U20 Vietnam will only advance if U20 Australia does not beat U20 Qatar.

In such a cornered situation, U20 Iran can do anything, especially when they are considered the top team of the tournament. Therefore, Mr. Hoang Anh Tuan reminded his students to stay focused.

The players feel happy after the victory. I also feel happy, but I have to control the players’ emotions because our journey is still long ahead. We have to express our emotions at the right time,” added Mr. Hoang Anh Tuan.

Talking about the secret to U20 Vietnam's victory in the last two matches, Coach Hoang Anh Tuan said: " Respect, determination and fighting spirit. That's all."

U20 Vietnam will face U20 Iran at 7pm on March 7. The match will take place at Istiqlol Stadium, Fergana City, Uzbekistan. Also on this stadium, U20 Vietnam won the two opening matches.
