According to statistics from Tan Thanh Border Gate Customs, from February 19th (the 3rd day of the first lunar month) to February 23rd (the 7th day of the first lunar month), an average of about 150 customs declarations for agricultural products and fruits were processed daily, with an average value of 1.2 million USD per day, an increase of more than 15% compared to the same period in January 2026.
Trade turnover increased sharply
Ms. Phan Thi Lien, Deputy Team Leader of Tan Thanh Border Gate Customs, shared: Currently, the demand for importing various fruits and agricultural products from Chinese businesses is increasing, so Vietnamese businesses have increased their export volume. This is the reason why the export value of agricultural products and fruits through the dedicated cargo transport route in the area of border markers 1088/2-1089 (Tan Thanh - Po Chai) has increased significantly.
In 2025, the total value of goods exported through the province's border gates is expected to reach over US$31.2 billion (a 42.45% increase compared to 2024), with agricultural products and fruits accounting for nearly 80% of exports. The strong increase in both the volume and value of agricultural products and fruits exported through the province's border gates right from the beginning of the new year will continue to create momentum for strong growth towards achieving the goal of US$100 billion in import and export turnover through the province in 2026. |
Not only at Tan Thanh border gate, but according to our findings, the export value of agricultural products and fruits through all border gates in the province averages about 2.3 million USD per day, an increase of about 12.5% compared to January 2026.
In fact, from February 19th to February 23rd, businesses exported over 24,500 tons of agricultural products and fruits through the province's border gates, an increase of over 9,600 tons compared to January 2026. On the peak day, there were over 280 vehicles carrying fruits and agricultural products.
Proactive support solutions
Mr. Vu Quang Tuyen, Director of the Border Gate Management Center, said: "Even before the Lunar New Year, the center proactively worked with Chinese authorities to agree on procedures and organize customs clearance activities before, during, and after the Lunar New Year holiday. This has helped increase customs clearance efficiency at border gates by more than 15% in the past few days compared to the first month of 2026."
Regarding this matter, Mr. Nguyen Huu Vuong, Deputy Head of the Customs Sub-Department Region VI, stated: It is expected that in the coming period, businesses will continue to increase exports of agricultural products and fruits. To improve customs clearance efficiency, the Customs Sub-Department Region VI is proactively implementing solutions to facilitate the flow of export goods at border gates.
Accordingly, the leaders of the Customs Sub-Department Region VI directed customs officers at border gates to proactively coordinate with the Border Gate Management Center and other forces at the border gates to standardize the control of export goods. This included agreeing on implementing separate export lanes for vehicles carrying agricultural products, especially fresh fruit, to prevent congestion of export goods at the border gates;…
In reality, all types of goods exported through the province's border gates are currently facilitated by the relevant authorities. However, in customs clearance operations, priority is still given to ensuring that agricultural products and fruits are cleared as quickly as possible.
Specifically, in customs procedures, customs authorities and other agencies have flexibly implemented solutions to minimize physical inspections of agricultural products, thereby shortening processing times and facilitating the fastest possible clearance of agricultural and fruit shipments.
