On the afternoon of March 27th, the Cam Le District Police ( Da Nang City) held a meeting to present certificates of commendation and rewards to citizens who chased after a man carrying iron who fled after crashing into and dragging a traffic police major along the road.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Quy, Deputy Chief of Police of Cam Le District, presented a certificate of commendation from the Director of Da Nang City Police to Mr. LKT (residing in Khue Trung Ward, Cam Le District) for his achievement in detecting and coordinating the arrest of a suspect resisting law enforcement officers.
Major Nguyen Huu Tien Len was injured.
As Thanh Nien newspaper reported, on January 7th, a task force from the Traffic Police Department of Da Nang City Police, led by Major Nguyen Huu Tien Len and consisting of 4 officers and soldiers, was on patrol and control duty on National Highway 14B.
Upon spotting Tran Dinh Duy (25 years old, residing in Group 8, Hoa Tho Dong Ward, Cam Le District) driving a motorbike with license plate 43G1 - 427.72 carrying a long bundle of metal on Truong Son Street (Hoa Tho Tay Ward, Cam Le District), violating traffic safety regulations, the task force signaled the vehicle to stop for inspection.
However, Duy sped away, hitting Major Len and dragging him along the road for about 4 meters before pushing him away.
As a result, Major Len was dragged onto the road, sustaining serious injuries. He was taken to the hospital by the task force in critical condition with a concussion, multiple abrasions, and a broken finger.
At that moment, Mr. T. was riding his motorbike when he approached the area in front of the community center of residential area No. 8 (Hoa Tho Tay Ward) and discovered the incident.
Seeing Duy running away, Mr. T. immediately chased after him, while simultaneously calling the Cam Le District Police to report the incident and request a search. Mr. T. pursued Duy for nearly 6 kilometers, traveling through many streets until Duy stopped to eat noodles. Mr. T. then called the police to apprehend him.
On January 10th, the Cam Le District Police initiated legal proceedings against Tran Dinh Duy for obstructing public officials in the performance of their duties.
