Switzerland increases military budget

Swiss President and Defense Minister Viola Amherd said she has requested a budget of 4.9 billion francs (5.5 billion USD) to strengthen the capacity of military forces in the coming time.

According to Reuters, President Viola Amherd added that by 2035, there will be about 20 billion Swiss francs ($22.58 billion) in additional funding.

Secretary Amherd emphasized that this is the first time that the US Congress has determined the long-term strategic direction of the armed forces' capabilities. Accordingly, 10 strategic areas have been identified including leadership and networking; artificial intelligence and integrated sensors; impact against air targets; impact against ground targets; impact in cyberspace and electromagnetic space; logistics, transportation operations...

In addition to purchasing new military equipment and improving communications systems, Switzerland will also build a new data center dedicated to the military and upgrade several bases.
