Player Tran Thi Thuy Trang returns to her hometown to visit her parents after the 32nd SEA Games

Standing in front of the grave of the brother she loves the most, Thuy Trang remembers the days when he followed him to play football.

The poor hometown did not have a football field, so the two brothers and their friends played football in the fields and cement yards. Although her body is smaller than her male friends, she can play with her brother, so Trang is not afraid to fight for the ball, collide ...

From playing for fun, Trang joined the girls' soccer team of her class and school. In high school, she competed for the provincial women's soccer team, attended the National Phu Dong Health Association and won a bronze medal.

On the threshold of university, Trang was oriented by her brother to take the entrance exam to Ho Chi Minh City University of Physical Education and Sports (HCMC University of Sport and Sports). The older brother always instructs his sister to fulfill her sports dream on her behalf.

However, in the days of studying for the university entrance exam, Trang had to suffer a huge shock.

“At 12 o'clock at night, the family informed his family that he had an accident. When I heard the news, I fell, I could only pray, but the miracle did not appear," Thuy Trang was emotional.

At that time, Trang broke down and didn't want to go to university anymore. Unable to face the reality of losing her brother, Trang went to a friend's house to stay temporarily.

Player Thuy Trang said: "Around that time, I often went to the riverside to cry and wanted to follow him.

However, when I thought clearly, I decided to continue studying for the exam, following the sports path that my brother wanted. That's also how I fulfill my passion for him."

Female players compete fiercely

On the day of the university exam, Trang wrapped a towel in Ho Chi Minh City alone. From the countryside to the street, Trang was fortunate to have a sister from her hometown to stay temporarily. This person also took Trang to the exam, taking care of every bite to eat and sleep...

In order to enter the HCM City University of Sports and Sports, in addition to Math and Biology, candidates must enter the aptitude test.

Having never studied professional football techniques, Trang innocently shows her talent for leading the ball, running at speed ... like playing football in the countryside.

So, when she received the news that she had passed the entrance exam to major in football, Ho Chi Minh City University of Sports and Sports, Trang was both happy and surprised.

Basic salary more than 5 million

In the first year of university, Thuy Trang got family tuition assistance. However, in the following years, she tried to win scholarships and work part-time to pay for her studies, living expenses, etc.

With knowledge and practical rubbing on the field, female players accept to be referees for friendly matches and movements. Pages are usually paid from 120-200 thousand VND per match.

In addition to being a referee, Thuy Trang also does many other things, including working as a maid, washing dishes for hire...

"Anything that makes real money, I do it, regardless of what other people despise and laugh at...", Thuy Trang confided.

In 2009, Trang received the title of the best player in the Ho Chi Minh City Student Futsal Award. From here, Thuy Trang was invited by the teachers at the Sports Center in District 1 to join the HCM City club.

However, she refused to focus on her final year. It was not until she graduated from university in 2010 that she decided to join the HCM City Club.

Also in 2010, Trang joined the Ho Chi Minh City futsal team to compete for the national futsal tournament. This season, the female player from Quang Nam and the HCM City team won a bronze medal.

At the end of 2010, when just joining the Vietnamese futsal team, Trang immediately suffered a broken collarbone injury and had to take a break for nearly 3 months.

During the break, although her leg was not completely healed, she still worked hard. This causes the old incision to be damaged, requiring surgery again.

After the injury, Trang was also afraid to collide. However, in the competition, the charm of the round ball made her keep rushing forward.

Twice participating in SEA Games 26 and 27, Thuy Trang contributed to changing the color of the medal from silver to gold for the Vietnamese futsal team.

In 2014, Thuy Trang was called up to the Vietnamese women's football team. Under the guidance of coach Mai Duc Chung, the Vietnamese women's football team entered the semi-finals of Asiad 17 for the first time.

Before this feat, the Vietnamese women's football team received a great reward. Recalling that mark, Thuy Trang shared: "It was the first time that I and my teammates were rewarded with level A, up to 90 million VND".

After keeping a part for herself, Thuy Trang brought home the prize money for her parents, gifts for siblings and grandchildren.

Currently, the basic salary at Trang's club is more than 5 million VND/month. The months are focused on the national team, the salary will be higher and there are more bonuses.

Every month, Thuy Trang regularly sends money, tonics... to her parents' hometown. Trang's father had a stroke, his mother was approximately 80 years old, so he was no longer able to work.

Passion for football brings glory to the girl from Quang Nam

For more than 10 years in the digital shorts career, player Thuy Trang has won many individual and collective titles.

“I used to plan to retire after the 2023 World Cup. However, at present, I am still passionate and do not want to stop," Thuy Trang expressed.

Therefore, fans will still have the opportunity to see the image of Thuy Trang looking up to the sky, praying before each match.

That was the moment Trang sent gratitude and love to her lost brother.
