(NLDO) - In the December 30th stock market session, gains were concentrated in only a few individual stocks, and this trend may not stop yet.
At the close of trading on December 30, the VN-Index fell 3 points (-0.25%), closing at 1,272 points.
Vietnamese stocks were in the red and retreated at the start of trading on December 30th. Investors were cautious in buying and selling shares at lower prices with low liquidity. Specifically, many large-cap stocks in the banking sector, such as VCB, BID, and TCB, declined, impacting the overall market.
However, towards the end of the session, some blue-chip stocks in the banking sector rose, most impressively HDB shares hitting the ceiling price with a 6.9% increase, LPB up 1.77%, and STB up 1.2%, helping the VN Index narrow its decline and preventing it from returning to the reference price range.
Foreign investors reversed their trend to net buying at the end of the afternoon session, with a total value of VND 353.3 billion, focusing on buying shares of STB, CTG, PDR, etc.
At the close of trading, the VN-Index fell 3 points (-0.25%), closing at 1,272 points. Liquidity decreased with only 452.9 million shares traded on the HOSE exchange.
According to Rong Viet Securities Company (VDSC), due to cautious investor trading, red stocks still prevailed. The market lacked a supporting group of stocks, with green stocks concentrated only in a few individual stocks.
"Investors will explore the supply and demand of stocks in the next trading session. However, current support signals could still provide upward momentum for the market. Stock market players can still exploit short-term opportunities in stocks with positive performance, considering the recovery to take short-term profits on stocks that have risen rapidly to resistance levels," - VDSC forecasts and recommends.
Meanwhile, VCBS Securities Company's view is that the market is clearly showing differentiation as money flows into individual stocks. Investors should look for stocks with stable demand. Some sectors worth considering include retail and fertilizer.
