According to the plan, the nationwide selection competition will be divided into four regions: Can Tho City, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi City, and the Central region. Each region will select 10 students for the semi-finals. The contestants will be divided into teams and receive guidance from coaches on vocal skills, dance, performance techniques, etc. Can Tho, a city with many colleges and universities, has been chosen as the host location for both the semi-finals and the finals of the competition.
In recent years, the cultural and artistic movement among students in Can Tho City has developed very strongly. For example, at Can Tho University, the traditional arts festival, held annually to commemorate the birthday of President Ho Chi Minh, attracts the participation of a large number of lecturers, students from various faculties, schools, and affiliated units.
The 2026 Traditional Arts Festival, recently concluded, demonstrated the enduring appeal of this event, with the participation of 13 units and 60 outstanding performances across various art forms. The performances were elaborately and professionally staged and are fully capable of being presented on larger stages. Many units with a long tradition of developing cultural and artistic activities, such as the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Political Science, Social Sciences and Humanities, the School of Agriculture, the School of Natural Sciences, the School of Engineering, and the Faculty of Foreign Languages, participated.
Nguyen Hoang Minh, a student attending the event, shared his feelings: “Many of the programs explored themes of revolutionary war and historical traditions, and their presentation was very impressive and moving. My friends and I had moments of reflection and pride.”
The 13th Traditional Arts and Culture Competition of Tay Do University, for the 2025-2026 academic year, was successfully held at the end of May, featuring performances full of youthful energy and modern styles, conveying meaningful stories about love for the homeland and national pride. Most recently, the art exchange program between the TDU Arts Club (Tay Do University) and the CTUT Musical Instruments Club (Can Tho University of Technology) is proof of the widespread impact of the student arts and culture movement. Members of both clubs spontaneously presented creative, engaging, and professional performances.
Nguyen Hoang Vien, Secretary of the Youth Union of Can Tho University of Technology, said: “The university currently has 5 cultural and artistic clubs. The Youth Union creates opportunities for students to participate, with a monthly exchange program between the clubs. Thanks to this, students have a beneficial playground and can improve their life skills.”
Other universities and colleges in the area, such as Nam Can Tho University, FPT University Can Tho, and Can Tho College of Culture and Arts, also have very vibrant cultural and artistic activities, regularly organizing events for students to showcase their talents.
In particular, FPT University Can Tho also offers classes and training programs in cultural and artistic talents for students, yielding noticeable results. Student Tran Ngoc Tram said that she attended high school at FPT University Can Tho and is now studying at the university. She learns Vovinam martial arts, plays traditional musical instruments, and participates in performances and cultural activities regularly. She feels the learning environment is very comfortable and interesting.
From school stages to student art playgrounds, many talented singers have been discovered and given the opportunity to continue shining on their professional artistic paths, spreading positive values to the community. "Student Love Songs" will continue to resonate…
