Human kindness in Da Nang during the floods

DNO - Faced with the complex developments of the floods, local authorities in Da Nang city quickly deployed rescue and support efforts to help residents and tourists reach safe places. Many philanthropists also joined hands to provide food and shelter, spreading the spirit of mutual support in the community.

On the morning of October 28th, Mr. Truong Van Quy, owner of Sabirama Hoi An restaurant, announced on his personal Facebook page that his restaurant currently has 4 vacant rooms that are not flooded and can accommodate 25-30 people. Anyone in need can contact him so he can arrange transportation to pick them up and provide free accommodation and meals during the rainy season.

Following the above information, several people contacted Mr. Quy to arrange safe accommodation.

Similarly, Ms. Le Thi Anh, owner of Le Anh bakery (Dien Ban Dong ward), is busy baking hundreds of cakes along with drinks and fruit to send to Quang Nam Regional General Hospital (Dien Ban ward) to support patients and their caregivers there.

According to Ms. Anh, although the value of the gift is not great, it is very convenient at a time when this hospital is isolated by floodwaters.

From the afternoon of October 27th, when floodwaters surged, many areas in Dien Ban town and the former Hoi An city were deeply submerged. Immediately, several individuals and businesses in Hoi An organized support for residents and tourists, such as: Sua Cafe Restaurant (Hoi An ward) cooked hundreds of free meals, and the owner of villa number 30 Nguyen Tuan (Hoi An ward) opened its doors to guests for free accommodation…

Mr. Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoi An Ward, said that the support of philanthropists during the current flood period is very meaningful and practical, creating a positive impression in the hearts of the people and tourists.

Given the complex situation caused by heavy rain and flooding, from the afternoon of October 27th, Hoi An ward implemented measures to rescue and support residents and tourists staying in the area.

Specifically, in addition to publishing the hotline numbers of the members of the Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention for residents and tourists to contact in case of emergencies, the ward has arranged 10 motorboats and rowboats (with free instant noodles and drinking water) ready to transport residents and tourists to safe places when needed.

In low-lying areas, preparation and response efforts are basically ensured and strictly adhere to the "four on-the-spot" principle.

According to Mr. Bui Van Dung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoi An Tay ward, the locality is stepping up propaganda to ensure safety and preparing rescue plans.

From the evening of October 27th until now, local authorities have deployed numerous forces to assist in relocating residents and tourists facing difficulties in heavily flooded areas. To date, approximately 120 people have been moved to safety, mostly the elderly, children, and those with illnesses.

On the evening of October 28th, Hoi An Tay continued to organize two more teams to directly assess the situation and provide timely food and supplies to the people.

Meanwhile, Hoi An Dong ward transported nearly 300 tourists staying in hotels in the lowlands to higher ground or to more convenient locations to get to the airport and return home.
