Human kindness in the new home

Thanks to government support for the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, and the collective efforts of the community, many people no longer have to huddle in their rickety homes during stormy nights, or worry every time a storm approaches. The movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Minh Quang commune has not only built sturdy roofs but also opened up new lives for countless families.

Let's work together to help.

At just after 5 a.m., Mrs. Ban Mi Dau from Minh Quang commune woke up to do housework. Hearing the lively calls of the villagers, she quickly grabbed rice from the container, picked some vegetables from the garden, and joined the crowd contributing to demolish the dilapidated house of Ma Thi Nhi, a fellow villager. "All the products people bring will be donated to support the homeowner," Mrs. Dau said.

Comrade Ma Dinh Quan, Deputy Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Department of Minh Quang commune, said: "Since the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses launched by the Prime Minister , poor and disadvantaged households have received support from the government, the roads in the villages have become more lively with the sounds of laughter and conversation as people contribute their labor. People carry not only hoes, shovels, and hammers, but also various kinds of food and supplies to help the households... In some villages in the commune, they even exchange labor, helping each other dig foundations and roof houses,... and this form of labor exchange can involve planting rice or harvesting crops."

The family of Mr. Ma Dinh Duc, from Na Nghe village, faced difficult circumstances and had lived in a dilapidated, temporary house for many years. However, joy came when the family received 60 million VND in government assistance to build a new, sturdy house. Thanks to the support from the government and the villagers, the family now has a spacious new home.

Mr. Duc said that his family received financial assistance from the government to build a new, sturdy house. However, due to their difficult circumstances, his family received enthusiastic help from villagers and friends during the construction process. Understanding the family's situation, from mobilizing labor, dismantling the old house, transporting materials, to starting construction... everything was done with the help of the people. In particular, through a labor exchange system, his family did not incur many costs.

Comrade Ma Thi Thang, Secretary of the Party Branch of Na Nghe village, Minh Quang commune, said: "During the process of supporting disadvantaged families in building houses, the Party branch assigned teams to help families build houses, and at the same time, we also assigned Party members to monitor the progress of house construction for each family."

A new roof, a new life.

These days, the new house of Mrs. Ma Thi Quan's family in Ban Cuong village is filled with joy and laughter as people come to celebrate and congratulate them. In the new house, still smelling of lime, mortar, and paint, Mrs. Quan couldn't hide her joy and happiness as her long-held dream of a spacious house to shelter her from rain and storms had finally come true. Mrs. Quan's family is a near-poor household; for many years, they lived in a dilapidated, leaky bamboo-walled house. Due to difficult economic conditions and the fact that their children were not well-off, repairing or building a new house was a distant dream for the family. Given their difficult circumstances, after a review, her family was included in the list of those eligible for housing assistance.

After two months of construction, Mrs. Quan's house, spanning over 50 square meters, has been completed. Mrs. Quan stated: "Now that I am old and my health is failing, the government's support in building this new house helps us settle down in our old age; allows us to work and produce with peace of mind, and strive to escape poverty."

Like other poor households in Minh Quang commune, the family of Mr. Vi Van Tien, from Ban Don village, was previously poor and lived in a severely dilapidated house. In 2025, his family received 60 million VND in government assistance to build a new house. With the help of the local government, relatives, and the people in the village, the house was completed. Mr. Tien emotionally stated: “My family is very happy and grateful to the Party, the State, the local government, and all the people in the village for their concern and financial support for building a new house. With a new house, my family can now work and produce with peace of mind, develop the economy, and provide our children with a full education, striving to escape poverty as soon as possible.”

Thanks to government support and the sharing and mutual support of neighbors and the community, poor households in Minh Quang commune have been able to settle into new, sturdy homes filled with warmth and human kindness, creating motivation and faith in a brighter future.
