This competition follows the success of the first "National Korean Speaking Contest - Korean Ambassador's Cup," held in 2022 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and South Korea.

This year's competition received applications from 64 participating units (1 contestant per unit) from 27 colleges and universities; 14 King Sejong Institutes and 23 middle and high schools nationwide.

On August 26th, contestants will compete in the regional semi-finals of the "National Korean Speaking Contest - Korean Ambassador's Cup 2023" held in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

The 2022 competition received applications from a total of 50 institutions, including 27 colleges and universities, 12 King Sejong Institutes, and 11 middle and high schools.

The 64 contestants participating in the semi-finals will have the opportunity to showcase their Korean language skills through a test on the topic "A Vietnamese cultural aspect you would like to introduce to your Korean friends."

The 16 outstanding contestants who advanced from the semi-finals in the North and South will compete in the final round of the competition, scheduled to be held on October 20th in Ho Chi Minh City.

The prizes for outstanding students in both the specialized and non-specialized fields are a 6-month Korean language study program at Ewha Women's University in South Korea, and a trip to South Korea for outstanding students in the high school category.

This speaking competition is organized by the Korean Embassy in Vietnam, in collaboration with the Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam, the Korean Language Centers in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, the King Sejong Institute Foundation, and sponsored by Ewha Women's University, the Korea Tourism Organization, and Jeju Air.

Ambassador Choi Young Sam, the Korean Ambassador to Vietnam, stated: “I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the efforts and enthusiasm of the Korean language teachers, lecturers, and students in Vietnam.”

In the future, the Korean government will always strive to create a more accessible environment for Vietnamese people to learn Korean.”
