Elevating National Tourism Year
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong said that Thua Thien Hue is a locality with a long history of tourism development, with sustainable tourism practices and "timely" thinking.
Thua Thien Hue is one of the key localities on the Vietnamese tourism map, with strengths in cultural and heritage tourism. Therefore, choosing Thua Thien Hue to host the National Tourism Year 2025 is completely appropriate.
Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong and Permanent Vice Chairman of Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh co-chaired the meeting.
Deputy Minister Ho An Phong said that with the experience from organizing the previous National Tourism Year (2012) and many major cultural and tourism events in recent times such as Hue Festival, the province must set higher requirements in organizing the National Tourism Year 2025.
"Hue must organize more successfully, raise the level of events to increase the attraction for tourists. Not only promote the destination brand but also develop festival tourism, create Festival tours to increase experiences, meet the demands and desires of tourists, contributing to increasing the number of tourists coming to Hue", Deputy Minister Ho An Phong expressed.
The Deputy Minister also emphasized that the National Tourism Year is not an event that only takes place over a few nights but must also meet long-term goals.
Hue has the advantage of being the ancient capital, the capital with many valuable cultural heritages, many cultural houses, and experience in organizing many events, so it is necessary to carefully research and clarify the strengths to exploit and promote.
The Deputy Minister also noted that 2025 will be a year with many major events for Thua Thien Hue, so the organization of events of the National Tourism Year needs to be arranged scientifically, methodically, and linked with important events of the province so that 2025 will become "the year of Hue".
Director of Thua Thien Hue Department of Tourism Nguyen Van Phuc presented the draft Project to Organize National Tourism Year - Hue 2025.
At the working session, presenting the draft Project on Organizing the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025, Director of the Department of Tourism of Thua Thien Hue Nguyen Van Phuc said that the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025 is a typical cultural - economic - social and tourism event of national and international scale combined with Hue Festival 2025, associated with the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Thua Thien Hue homeland (March 26, 1975 - March 26, 2025) and other major celebrations of the whole country; responding to and welcoming Hue to become a city directly under the Central Government.
The event aims to introduce and promote tangible and intangible cultural values, resources and unique tourism products of Vietnam in general and Thua Thien Hue province in particular; attract domestic and international tourists, create a breakthrough in tourism development, contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of the province.
National Tourism Year - Hue 2025 will strongly promote tourism development linkages between localities nationwide to promote strengths and potentials to develop regional and inter-regional tourism, contributing to enhancing the image, position and brand of Vietnamese tourism in general and Thua Thien Hue in particular in the following years.
At the same time, attracting a large number of people, international and domestic tourists to visit and experience Thua Thien Hue province, creating a driving force to promote the development of other economic sectors and fields, creating a step of growth, comprehensive development of Thua Thien Hue tourism in terms of scale and quality of services, quantity and structure of tourists to ensure sustainability.
The National Tourism Year and Hue Festival 2025 are expected to include 62 main programs and events. The highlight will be the Opening Ceremony of the National Tourism Year combined with the Opening of the Hue Festival and the fireworks display to celebrate the 50th Liberation Day of Thua Thien Hue. The event is expected to be held in late March 2025 in Hue City.

At the meeting, representatives of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, the Department of Sports and Physical Training, the Department of International Cooperation, the Department of Grassroots Culture, the Department of Copyright and other units spoke and gave specific comments on the contents of the Project on Organizing the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025. Especially issues related to the theme name, brand identity and main activities of the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025.
Promoting tourism development in the Central region
Speaking at the meeting, Permanent Vice Chairman of Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh said that, realizing the important significance of organizing the National Tourism Year in 2025 for the locality, the provincial leaders had planned early and were determined to apply to host the National Tourism Year 2025.

Thanking the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for accompanying and supporting Thua Thien Hue in hosting the National Tourism Year 2025, the Standing Vice Chairman of Thua Thien Hue proposed that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will have more specific and detailed policies and directions in organizing the National Tourism Year so that localities can effectively implement it.
For the locality, Thua Thien Hue will strive to successfully organize the event, create highlights, impressions, exploit all potentials and inherent advantages, contributing to promoting tourism development. Making tourism truly become the spearhead economic sector of the province.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh expressed his wish to elevate the National Tourism Year, especially in 2025, a year with many major events for Thua Thien Hue. Organizing the National Tourism Year can create widespread tourism development for the entire Central region with rich potential.
"We hope to promote tourism in the entire Central region through the National Tourism Year. This requires close cooperation between localities, Hue cannot stand alone. Therefore, we propose that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism act as a bridge to help connect and develop tourism in the Central region, while also connecting with tourism in the North and the South," said Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh.
Regarding the potential and advantages of Thua Thien Hue tourism, in addition to cultural heritage, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh said that Hue also has strengths in cuisine and is building a creative city to join the UNESCO Creative City network. Therefore, Thua Thien Hue proposed that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism accompany in organizing national or international culinary festivals in the locality to create highlights.
Regarding the task of propaganda and promotion, the Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province said that this is an area with many limitations for the locality and expressed his hope that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will support and guide Hue to do a good job of propaganda and promotion.
Regarding resources, Vice Chairman Nguyen Thanh Binh said that in addition to the local budget, the province will also call for external support to create the best resources for organizing the National Tourism Year 2025.
Permanent Vice Chairman of Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh said that he will fully absorb the comments at the working session, supplement and complete the Organization Project to report to the Provincial Party Committee and leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism with the spirit of organizing the National Tourism Year 2025 with highlights and marks to bring high efficiency.

Concluding the meeting, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong expressed his support and high consensus for the organization of the National Tourism Year 2025 in Thua Thien Hue. The Deputy Minister emphasized that organizing this event is not only an opportunity for Thua Thien Hue but also has the meaning of promoting Vietnam's tourism.
The Deputy Minister assigned the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism to be the main focal point, coordinating with relevant departments and divisions of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to jointly implement the National Tourism Year 2025 in Thua Thien Hue. He requested the Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee to complete the draft Project to report to the Provincial Party Committee and the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Noting that the preparation time is not long, the organization of the National Tourism Year is very close, the Deputy Minister suggested that Thua Thien Hue must take drastic action right now, and expressed his belief that the National Tourism Year 2025 in Thua Thien Hue will be impressively organized with many innovations and creativity./.
