Seminar on developing a reading culture

On November 8th, in Ha Long City, the Quang Ninh Provincial Library organized a book presentation and a panel discussion with speakers on developing a reading culture. This is one of the thematic activities for children in 2024 organized by the Provincial Library to affirm and spread the value of reading culture in the community.

Speaker Do Thai Dang shared his insights on a holistic approach to reading.

At the program, nearly 200 delegates and students from schools in Ha Long City listened to speaker Dr. Do Thai Dang share on the topic: "The benefits of reading for the holistic development of students." With many engaging and meaningful contents such as: The current state of reading culture; basic skills for effective and useful reading; reading methods, aiming for smart, modern, convenient and effective reading; guidance to help students maintain both reading culture and audiovisual culture, spreading the passion for reading and reading culture in the school environment... contributing to maintaining and developing reading habits, affirming the value of books for learning and the comprehensive development of students.

The program introduced valuable cultural and educational publications, thereby helping readers, especially young readers, to gain a deeper understanding of the role of books in life and the journey of growing up. It also provided an opportunity for readers to exchange ideas and interact with speakers, broadening their perspectives and accessing diverse viewpoints on books and reading culture. Furthermore, the program served as a chance to strengthen the connection between community libraries and school libraries in the area, promoting interoperability and the development of the library system throughout the province.

The Quang Ninh Provincial Library presented a symbolic "Bookcase for Promoting Reading Culture" to Cong Hoa Primary and Secondary School (Cam Pha City).

Also at the event, the Quang Ninh Provincial Library donated a bookshelf to promote reading culture to Cong Hoa Primary and Secondary School (Hai Hoa commune, Cam Pha city). The bookshelf includes 10 bookshelves with 200 diverse books, newspapers, and magazines for students.
