Situated on the Hai Phong - Hanoi - Kunming (China) economic corridor and at the confluence of three major rivers ( Da River, Red River, and Lo River) , Phu Tho possesses numerous favorable conditions and immense potential for production, business, exchange, and economic development both domestically and internationally.

Phu Tho is known as the cradle of Lac Viet culture, the center of settlement of the ancient Vietnamese people during the time of the Hung Kings who founded the Van Lang Kingdom. Throughout thousands of years of history, it has preserved the imprint of the early dawn of the nation's founding with a rich system of tangible and intangible cultural values, including 1,372 historical and cultural relics ( of which the Hung Temple Complex is a Special National Monument ) and a system of folk festivals and distinctive art forms of the ancestral land ( including Phu Tho Xoan singing and the Hung King worshiping belief in Phu Tho, which have been recognized by UNESCO as world cultural heritage ) .
