Thanks to effectively leveraging the advantages of land and human resources, and with the flexibility, creativity, and decisiveness of the Party committee and government in implementing socio-economic development solutions, the lives of the people in Yen Lang commune have continuously improved over the years, and the rural landscape has flourished.

Yen Lang commune was formed by merging Lang Cong and Quang Yen communes, with a total natural area of ​​38.2 ^km² , divided into 21 villages with over 4,200 households and nearly 18,300 inhabitants, including more than 3,000 ethnic minorities. Over the years, the Party Committee, government, and people of all ethnic groups in the commune have consistently promoted unity and solidarity, developed socio-economic conditions, increased income, and improved living standards.

The traditional craft of making traditional medicine and herbal yeast for brewing rượu (rice wine) of Mr. Lam Van Cao's family, of the Cao Lan ethnic group in Dong Dong village, has proven to be economically effective.

With the decisive involvement of the entire political system, the commune's new rural development program has achieved positive results. The economic structure has shifted towards rapidly increasing the value of industrial and handicraft production, and service and trade sectors. During the 2020-2025 period, the economic growth rate remained stable, averaging 8.2% per year; agriculture, forestry, and fisheries accounted for nearly 32%; industry, handicraft, and construction accounted for 37.69%; and services and trade accounted for 33.39%. As a result, average income reached 61.55 million VND/person/year, an increase of more than 16.5 million VND compared to 2020. The poverty rate has decreased significantly; currently, the commune has only 27 poor households according to multidimensional criteria and 84 near-poor households.

Implementing the National Target Program on building new rural areas, the entire commune has so far achieved 14 out of 19 criteria for new rural areas. The rate of cultured families has reached 96%, and the rate of cultured villages has reached 100%. Dong Dong village has been recognized by the province as a "Model Cultured Village".

Rural roads are basically paved with asphalt or concrete, clean and beautiful; 12 out of 17 km of field roads have been concreted and asphalted... Cultural facilities, sports centers in the commune and village cultural houses have been newly built and are spacious; the health station and school system has been built, renovated, upgraded and given attention with appropriate investment in equipment.

The commune focuses on rapid and sustainable economic development in the direction of modern industry - services - agriculture, prioritizing attracting investment in industry and promoting digital transformation. At the same time, it aims to improve the quality of education, healthcare, culture, and the material and spiritual lives of the people; striving to build a model, civilized, prosperous, and beautiful new rural commune; effectively implementing social welfare and achieving sustainable poverty reduction. By 2030, Yen Lang aims to be a shining example of administrative reform, digital government, and social consensus.

The Party Congress of Yen Lang Commune for the 2025-2030 term has set forth 17 basic targets for socio-economic development and 3 breakthroughs with 6 key tasks and 5 solutions to build the commune into an advanced new rural commune with high income in the province by 2030. Specifically, state budget revenue in the commune will increase by an average of more than 10% per year, reaching 175 billion VND by 2030; total social investment implemented in the commune will reach 1,169 billion VND; the commune will have no poor households according to the poverty standard of the 2021-2025 period; and it will achieve the advanced and modern new rural commune standard.

To realize the set goals, the commune has identified the following priorities for the immediate future: completing priority investment projects for the 2025-2030 period; constructing a new administrative center for the commune; upgrading the section of Provincial Road 307C leading to Dong Tam village and other inter-village and inter-commune roads; building a community cultural center for the Dao and Cao Lan ethnic groups; and implementing the Dong Dong - Thanh Cong - Tam Da eco-tourism community project.
