Ha Long City will suspend tourism establishments that violate regulations.

On June 17th, the People's Committee of Ha Long City held a conference to implement solutions to ensure a favorable business environment for tourism in the area.

Information presented at the conference indicated that, recently, especially from the beginning of June 2024 to the present, based on feedback from residents, tourists, and information on some social media sites, some restaurants and cruise ships have been providing poor quality service and unreasonable prices.

In addition, there are issues such as unlicensed taxis and electric vehicles soliciting customers; price gouging and a lack of transparency in pricing; street vending; food safety and hygiene; environmental sanitation; and the attitude of service staff towards tourists.

The aforementioned issues have caused much frustration for tourists and negatively impacted the image of tourism in Ha Long City.

After listening to the opinions of the delegates, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Son - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Long City - affirmed that, in order to provide the best experiences for residents and tourists as well as to preserve the brand and image of local tourism, the city government is determined to suspend operations in accordance with regulations for tourism businesses if violations are detected.

The People's Committee of Ha Long City has requested the City Police to conduct inspections, verify, and strictly handle acts of unlicensed taxis and electric vehicles operating aggressively, overcharging, and causing frustration for tourists.

In addition, strictly inspect, review, and handle the situation of disguised contract vehicles, unlicensed taxis, taxis without meters, electric vehicles, etc., that overcharge and extort tourists, especially during peak periods in Bai Chay and Hung Thang wards.

At the same time, maintain inspections and handle violations, preventing situations such as protection rackets, harassment, price gouging, and restaurant staff standing on the roadside soliciting customers, which causes traffic safety hazards and detracts from urban aesthetics in the central tourist wards of the area.

Market Management Team No. 5 and the Urban Order and Environment Inspection Team are intensifying inspections and controls, resolutely and strictly handling establishments that intentionally violate regulations on price listing, trading in prohibited goods, counterfeit goods, and goods of unknown origin; and strictly dealing with all acts of profiteering, price gouging, service shortchanging, overcharging, and touting .
