Ho Chi Minh City opens a boat terminal in Thu Thiem

After three months of renovation, the Saigon River ferry station on the Thu Thiem side was put into operation on the afternoon of February 7 (December 28), creating a new destination for passengers to travel by ferry and enjoy the Tet holiday.

The wharf, nearly 2,000 square meters wide, is part of the Saigon River park on the Thu Thiem Urban Area, Thu Duc City, which was renovated about 3 months ago with socialized capital. This area is opposite Bach Dang Wharf, District 1, and is considered the "front" of the center of Ho Chi Minh City.

The train station is located more than 100 meters from the old Thu Thiem ferry terminal, which was originally planned as an inland waterway terminal but has not been exploited for many years. Currently, this terminal has been renovated with a convenient campus, ticket sales point, wharf, serving the needs of waterway vehicles carrying passengers and river buses. Above, around the terminal, there are green areas with many amenities, food and beverage services, toilets, parking lots, etc. to help people and tourists conveniently have fun and relax.

Mr. Nguyen Kim Toan, Director of Thuong Nhat Company Limited (Saigon Waterbus - investor), said that the Thu Thiem water station put into operation is not only a traffic hub but also has cultural and historical value, preserving the mark of the Thu Thiem ferry terminal more than 100 years ago.

"The wharf was renovated with a combination of modern and historical landscapes, creating a destination for people and tourists to visit, sightsee, and wait for trains," said Mr. Toan. After the water station was put into operation, the unit also opened a train route connecting the two banks of the river, from Bach Dang to Thu Thiem and vice versa, creating conditions for people and tourists to have fun, relax, and develop tourism along the Saigon River.

In addition to the above train station, the Saigon riverside park on the Thu Thiem side has many other items that have just been renovated by Thu Duc City, becoming a destination for people to visit during Tet such as sunflower fields, a riverside tree planting area, a multi-purpose community activity yard... In particular, the 5,200 m2 sunflower field with about 20,000 blooming trees, many people are entertaining and taking pictures. In addition, a series of floating rafts for growing aquatic plants and a part of the community activity playground have also been completed, creating a space for fun during Tet.
