Ho Chi Minh City has more than 100 4-star OCOP products

Ho Chi Minh City has recognized 419 OCOP products of 155 entities; of which 312 products achieved 3 stars, 107 products achieved 4 stars.

On the evening of June 29, at Nguyen Hue walking street (District 1), the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City coordinated with the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City, the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City to organize the announcement ceremony and award the decision to recognize OCOP products (one product per commune) in 2024 for 28 products of 5 entities.

Of which, Can Gio Yen Dao Investment, Trade and Service Company Limited has 16 products; Saigon Agricultural Corporation Branch - Saigon Livestock and Food Processing Company has 7 products; Song Khoe Production, Trade and Service Company Limited has 3 products; Toan Cau Trade Linkage Company Limited and Vietnam Coconut Joint Stock Company, each unit has 1 product recognized to meet 4-star OCOP standards in 2024.

Qualified products will be granted a Certificate and the right to use the logo and OCOP star ranking to print or stick on the packaging. The Certificate is valid for 36 months from the date of signing and issuance.

The OCOP program is a rural economic development initiative based on local advantages, originating in Japan and now implemented in more than 40 countries.

Attending and speaking at the program, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Dung said that if previously OCOP products were only purely key products, handicrafts, ornamental plants, now they have expanded to include food, beverages, medicinal herbs, community tourism services and tourist attractions...

By the end of June 2025, Ho Chi Minh City had recognized 419 OCOP products of 155 entities; of which 312 products achieved 3 stars, 107 products achieved 4 stars. However, OCOP products in Ho Chi Minh City are still not commensurate with their potential and advantages.

“In the coming time, when Ho Chi Minh City merges with Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau, the new Ho Chi Minh City will have good conditions to develop the OCOP program. The Department of Science and Technology is requested to continue supporting OCOP entities in intellectual property rights; the Department of Industry and Trade supports connection and trade promotion; the Department of Tourism connects tourism routes with production and business establishments. The People's Committees of wards and communes proactively introduce OCOP products in the locality, strengthen the inspection and supervision of product quality after being recognized as OCOP products”, Comrade Nguyen Van Dung requested.
