Attendees included: Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee; Mr. Tran The Thuan, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports; Mr. Huynh Khac Diep, Secretary of the Binh Tan District Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Trung Anh, Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee and Chairman of the Binh Tan District People's Committee; Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hoi, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports; Mr. Le Hoang, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Book Street; and a large number of residents from Binh Tan District.

The Binh Tan Book Street is one of the exemplary projects in the emulation campaign "Building book streets, book spaces and developing reading culture" to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country. It was assigned by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to the former Department of Information and Communications, now the Department of Culture and Sports, and the Binh Tan District People's Committee for implementation.

The Binh Tan Book Street, covering an area of nearly 2,000 square meters, is located on D5 road (Hoa Lam High-Tech Medical Zone, Binh Tri Dong B ward) and features 12 book stalls, a book cafe, 2 reading areas, and other amenities such as a stage, event area, and entrance gate, with an investment of nearly 5 billion VND. The creation of the Binh Tan Book Street is expected to contribute to promoting reading, enhancing knowledge, developing critical thinking, and education , while also providing Binh Tan district with a new cultural institution to serve residents in the area and the western districts of the city.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy said that, building on the success of reading culture development activities in the city, the 4th Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in 2025 will be held from April 19 to May 2, with a peak period from April 25 to 27 at Binh Tan Book Street, Ho Chi Minh City Book Street, Thu Duc City Book Street, Cu Chi District Book Space, and simultaneously organized in Thu Duc City and 21 districts.

“Organizing the book fair and key activities at Binh Tan Book Street is one of the highlights of the 4th City-level Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day. This is one of the typical emulation projects of the city's publishing industry to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, and at the same time demonstrates the concern, policy, and direction of the city's leaders, all levels of government, and those working in the publishing industry with the determination to achieve the common goal of spreading reading culture in the community, a new step forward, helping to improve the quality of life for the people,” said Comrade Tran Thi Dieu Thuy.

Following the opening of the Ho Chi Minh City Book Street and Thu Duc City Book Street, the Binh Tan Book Street, and the commencement of construction of the Nguyen Dong Chi Book Street (District 7) on April 15th, the Cu Chi Book Space is expected to be inaugurated on April 27th. All of these will create a system of book streets and book spaces along the East-West-South-North directions of Ho Chi Minh City.
