When the ballot becomes the voter's belief

These days, in many residential areas of Hanoi, the election has become a topic of interest and discussion among residents. From neighborhood meetings and village gatherings to everyday conversations, voters express their concern and expectations for the candidates and their desire to choose truly worthy representatives who will reflect the will and aspirations of the people.

Expressing her trust and expectations to the representatives of the Dai Thanh Commune People's Council, Ms. Ta Thi Phuong from Yen village (Dai Thanh commune) said: "I hope that the representatives, who are already close to the people, will become even closer to them, paying more attention to the lives of the people; and at the same time, I propose to the competent authorities to accelerate the progress of projects in the area, especially key transportation projects such as the Tam Hiep - Thanh Liet - Van Dien inter-commune road."

Living more than 3km from Huynh Cung village, Mr. Nguyen Quang Duc in the Pin residential area (Dai Thanh commune) carries with him many hopes and expectations for the candidates. Mr. Duc shared: “I have participated in elections for National Assembly and People's Council representatives at all levels many times, but this year my feelings and emotions are very different. Perhaps it's because we are living in a crucial transitional period for the country, when the government apparatus is being streamlined, aiming for efficiency, effectiveness, and efficiency.” In the atmosphere of serious and thorough preparation for the election, Mr. Duc hopes that the elected representatives will truly represent the will and aspirations of the people, becoming a strong bridge between the Party's will and the people's hearts.

According to Mr. Pham Quoc Trinh (84 years old) from Dong My village (Nam Phu commune), through voter outreach sessions, he found that all candidates met the standards, possessed professional qualifications, and understood the local situation. As a voter, he is clearly aware of his responsibility with his ballot: "I have carefully researched the biographies and action programs of each candidate to choose those who are truly dedicated, capable, and competent to represent the people in the commune's People's Council." He also hopes that after being elected, the delegates will continue to be closely involved with the grassroots, paying attention to resolving practical issues in people's lives such as transportation infrastructure, planning, and strengthening the public address system so that people can promptly grasp the policies and guidelines of the Party and the State.

These days, election propaganda in Thanh Liet ward is being intensified through loudspeakers, billboards, posters, and community gatherings. The voter list and brief biographies of the candidates are publicly posted at the cultural center and neighborhood headquarters, allowing people to review and learn about the information before exercising their right to vote. Mr. Nhu Duy Nga, a long-time voter in Neighborhood Group No. 4, Thanh Xuan Nam (Thanh Liet ward), said: “I have arranged my work to vote on election day, March 15th. I always consider election day a festival. Every voter needs to be responsible with their ballot to build a stronger government apparatus that better serves the people.”

A symbol of democratic spirit, unity, and aspiration for progress.

The significance of election day lies not only in the selection of representatives. After casting their votes, the responsibilities of each citizen continue to be emphasized. This is because building a democratic and developed society depends not only on those elected, but also on the participation, oversight, and support of the people.

Voter Pham Hong Truong (Thach That commune) said that after the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term, first and foremost, each voter needs to continue to monitor and supervise the activities of the representatives they have chosen. National Assembly deputies and People's Council representatives are the voice of the people, therefore they need to listen to opinions and truthfully reflect the thoughts and aspirations of the voters.

The concern, feedback, and oversight of the people are the driving force for representatives to better fulfill their responsibilities. According to voter Ngo Van Hung (Dan Hoa commune), each citizen also needs to proactively participate in social activities and contribute opinions to the development policies of the locality and the country. Meetings with voters and dialogues between the government and the people are important bridges to ensure that the voices of the people are heard and fully reflected. Responsibility beyond the ballot is also demonstrated in strictly adhering to the law, actively working, studying, and contributing to the development of the community. Every small action in daily life, from maintaining order and protecting the environment to participating in movements to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas, contributes to the collective strength.

Nguyen Viet Tiep, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and Secretary of the Youth Union of Nam Phu Commune, shared that, in addition to the responsibilities of voters, elected representatives also need to remember that each ballot they receive represents an entrustment of faith. They must constantly cultivate political acumen, improve their professional skills, maintain moral integrity, and always put the interests of the people first. Only when there is a close connection between representatives and voters, between the government and the people, will the meaning of election day be fully realized.

Candidate Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen, Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Nam Phu commune, stated that in recent times, the locality has focused on implementing many large projects in line with the city's development orientation, such as the Olympic Sports Urban Area, the Red River Landscape Boulevard Construction Project, and programs to upgrade rural transportation, develop infrastructure, and improve the quality of education. Throughout the implementation process, the commune has consistently strengthened dialogue, ensured transparency of information, listened to the opinions of the people, gradually fostered consensus within the community, and ensured the progress of projects as directed by the city.

Candidate Le Minh Duc - Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Thach That commune - emphasized that if elected by voters as representatives to the Hanoi City People's Council, the candidates will strive to fulfill their duties well, living up to the trust and expectations of the voters.

March 15, 2026, is a national celebration, an opportunity for every citizen to exercise their right to self-determination over the nation's destiny. However, the significance of this celebration lies not only in the moment of voting but also in the responsibility each citizen fulfills after casting their ballot. When each citizen is clearly aware of their role and responsibility, and when each representative strives for the common good of the community, the votes cast on election day will become a solid foundation for the sustainable development of the country in general and Hanoi in particular. At that time, the national celebration will not only be a recurring event but a vibrant symbol of the democratic spirit, unity, and aspiration for progress of the Vietnamese people.
