Thien Dang Stage has participated in the "Ear To Eye" project - a humane initiative launched by the Hello Sunbox art group, in collaboration with the Goethe Institute of Ho Chi Minh City. This project is dedicated to disadvantaged audiences, especially the visually impaired.
A message about the spirit of sharing.
This special project is creating strong empathy, opening up access to the stage for the visually impaired, where they are no longer outside the boundaries of sight, but can enter the world of the performance through touch, hearing, and emotion. There are artists, like Meritorious Artist Thanh Loc, who not only perform on stage but also fully live out their role as guides for beauty and sharing.
Beyond simply spreading joy, Meritorious Artist Thanh Loc, along with musician Truong Khoa, sponsored theater tickets for the visually impaired. The actions of these two artists not only brought happiness to these special audiences but also conveyed a message about the spirit of sharing of true artists. Through this, they received support from the public and fellow artists who joined hands to contribute to this project.

For visually impaired audiences, "watching" a play is not an easy journey, but thanks to companions like Hello Sunbox, like Meritorious Artist Thanh Loc, like musician Truong Khoa, they are given the opportunity to live with art, to be moved, to imagine, to laugh and to shed tears.
Perception from sound
The Hello Sunbox team and volunteers created a detailed stage model – a space that visually impaired people could "touch" to visualize. They also assisted in describing every movement, lighting, costume, and action on stage through personal headphones. Every detail, however small, was carefully considered – as if handing the audience an artistic world they had never entered before.
Indeed, visually impaired audiences access the performance through a miniature stage model, allowing them to use their hands to touch and visualize the artistic composition and set design. Throughout the play, each audience member wears a personal hearing aid, and a narrator gently and continuously explains each movement, light, setting change, and character expression. They don't "see" with their eyes, but "perceive" with their senses through sound, imagery, and emotion.
Meritorious Artist Ca Lê Hồng expressed that the "From Ear to Eye" project was born from the concern that visually impaired people cannot "watch plays" in the usual way, but they can absolutely experience art through hearing and touch, with appropriate support.
Thien Dang Theatre, the Hello Sunbox art group, and the Goethe Institute of Ho Chi Minh City collaborated to organize two special performances exclusively for the visually impaired, with a maximum audience of 5 people per performance to ensure a quality experience. "I am very excited and highly appreciate this project by Thien Dang Theatre," shared Meritorious Artist Ca Le Hong.
The collaboration of artists at Thien Dang Stage - from actors to backstage staff - demonstrates a commitment to the social mission of the stage, where art is not only performed to shine but also to touch the lives of those who need to be heard and shared with.
Meritorious Artist Thanh Loc shared: "I have witnessed visually impaired young people laughing, crying, and being moved by each performance. Those moments made us understand that art is not just for seeing, but also for feeling with the heart."
