These days, the atmosphere of preparation for the 2nd Sa Dec Flower and Ornamental Plant Festival - 2025 is spreading throughout the gardens of Sa Dec flower village (Sa Dec Ward, Dong Thap Province ). Amidst this vibrant atmosphere, the image of "The Heart of Sa Dec Flower Village," made from 1,500 flower baskets, has become a special highlight, making everyone passing by stop to admire its beauty.

The most striking highlight is the miniature scene of the red flag with a yellow star fluttering against a backdrop of "the heart of the flower village." The heart shape is created using red chrysanthemums, bordered in gold by pico chrysanthemums, with a light pink background combined with water hyacinth, impatiens, and firecracker flowers; the red flag with a yellow star itself is made from yellow chrysanthemums and red firecracker flowers, symbolizing a patriotic heart.

The entire miniature landscape is created from 5 types of flowers, totaling 1,500 baskets, becoming a symbol that is both vibrant in color and rich in spiritual value in the heart of the century-old flower village of Sa Dec.

In the bustling atmosphere of preparation for the grand festival, artisans and farmers diligently tend to each flower bed and ornamental basket, beautifying the landscape. Colorful flower carpets, created from over 100 different flower varieties, stretch throughout the flower village, bringing a vibrant and dazzling atmosphere.

To serve the Flower and Ornamental Plant Festival and the Lunar New Year market in 2026, the Tan An Ornamental Plant Cooperative has planted more than 300,000 flower pots.

Proper handling ensures flowers bloom at the right time and maintain quality.

Mr. Dang Van Giau, head of the Tan An hamlet ornamental flower cooperative in Sa Dec ward, said that the cooperative currently has 11 members, cultivating more than 13 hectares of ornamental flowers. Since 2021, combining flower cultivation with experiential tourism development has yielded significant results. The number of visitors has increased steadily, and the ornamental flower products are sold throughout the province and cities nationwide.

To serve this year's Flower Festival and the Lunar New Year market in 2026, the cooperative has planted over 300,000 flower baskets of various types. Among them, chrysanthemums continue to play a leading role and have been developed in many new colors. Because the Festival and the Lunar New Year are quite far apart, the growers have to carefully plan the planting schedule and ensure the flowers bloom at the right time, guaranteeing the highest quality and aesthetic value.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Tam, Chairman of the People's Committee of Sa Dec Ward, the locality currently has nearly 950 hectares of ornamental flower cultivation, of which about 740 hectares specialize in growing flowers, landscaping plants, and indoor plants. Sa Dec flower village brings together more than 4,000 production households, with about 2,000 varieties, notably chrysanthemum, tiger chrysanthemum, marigold, sunflower, cockscomb, rose, etc.

It is expected that Sa Dec will supply approximately 140,000 baskets of ornamental flowers for this festival, including 30,000 baskets of traditional chrysanthemum, 22,400 baskets of new-colored chrysanthemums, 12,500 baskets of pico chrysanthemums, along with many other types of flowers such as petunias, tiger chrysanthemums, roses, and water spinach…

The 2nd Sa Dec Flower and Ornamental Plant Festival - 2025 will take place from December 27, 2025 to January 4, 2026. This event not only celebrates the flower cultivation profession, which has a history of over 100 years, but also aims to guide Sa Dec's development towards enhancing the value chain of the flower and ornamental plant industry, combining it with sustainable tourism development, and creating stable livelihoods for the benefit of the local people. The organizers expect the festival to attract approximately 500,000 visitors.
