Tran Quyet Chien faces a formidable opponent.

In their opening match of the 2025 World Team 3-Cushion Carom Billiards Championship on March 13th, the Vietnamese team achieved a perfect record against Jordan. Tran Quyet Chien won 40-19 against Mashhour Abu Tayeh, while Bao Phuong Vinh defeated Ahmed Al Ghababsheh with a score of 40-7. This perfect record in the first round puts the Vietnamese team in first place in Group C.

In the second round of matches taking place this afternoon (March 14th), the Vietnamese team will face the Belgian team. Tran Quyet Chien will play against Peter Ceulemans, while Bao Phuong Vinh will clash with Roland Forthomme. Both matches will take place at 5 PM (Vietnam time).

Tran Quyet Chien will face strong opponents in the remaining two matches of the World Team Championship.

Unlike the first match, where the Jordan team was considered much weaker and had no chance of causing an upset, the two Belgian players are highly skilled and familiar faces at world tournaments like the World Cup billiards. Tran Quyet Chien and Bao Phuong Vinh are predicted to face many difficulties in the second match, and the final result is very difficult to predict. Theoretically, the two Vietnamese players are still considered the favorites, but they need to maintain consistency and play to their full potential to win.

Regarding Tran Quyet Chien and Peter Ceulemans, the last time these two players met was at the World Cup tournament held in Veghel (Netherlands) in October 2024. At that time, the number one Vietnamese player won 50-37 against Ceulemans in the semi-finals, and then went on to defeat another Belgian player, Frederic Caudron, to win the championship.

After the second round of matches, the Vietnamese team will continue to compete in the final round of Group C at 2:00 AM on March 15th (Vietnam time), against Sweden. Tran Quyet Chien will face Torbjorn Blomdahl, while Bao Phuong Vinh will clash with Nalle Olsson. Blomdahl is considered a "living legend" of the world of 3-cushion carom billiards, possessing 46 World Cup titles and 7 World Championship titles.
